Default Remora Holsters and CS

Hi All,

Not sure if anyone has used Remora holsters much, but I just wanted to throw my .02 out there. I have one for my M&P 40c, Baby Glock that keeps my safe warm and my sons XDS 45.

They are a pretty decent holster for the need, They are extremely similar to the Sticky Holster brand. I have used them all day with my other guns and have had no issues with them shifting on me. They also fit great in my cargo pocket or in place in the strap on my vest under my armpit while on duty as my BUG.

Recently I purchased a Shield and at a gun show in PA picked one up for that gun. Well needless to say I had a slight issue and fired off an email on Friday to their CS without any questions she called me and told me they would make a new one and ship it out. Received today along with a free Mag pouch made of the same material Cant go wrong for $24.95 (on sale now at $18.95)

I have a couple Remora's. While they're well made, I'm just not a fan of the style.

That being said...the one time I had to contact them to exchange something, their service was absolutely phenomenal.

I've got 3 Remoras. Not my EDC carry, but they come in handy for something to throw on around the house or a trip down to the mail box cluster. Also great for nightstand duty. If they were tuckable, I might use them more often tho. Just can't seem to make that work.

They do have tuckables now: Remora Product Information
and OWB and Hybrids.

Oh yeah... They're extremely similar to Sticky brand because the guy that does Sticky brand used to be partners with the guy that owns Remora. They had a falling out and went their separate ways.

I have one for my 640 Pro, Shield 9, and my Beretta 21A. Except for the Beretta I carry IWB. The Beretta I just drop in my front pocket. I have never found they to be uncomfortable and they do not shift around. For the price they are hard to beat. I haven't had to use the CS yet since I have not had a problem with any I have purchased.

I don't seem to wear my pants tight enough for these to work. Or the usually-dressy stuff I wear is of a somewhat slicker material (just slacks, really) than casual attire.

For me, the Remoras are a generic compromise that fall short of being a real holster.

The shape is not really form fitting, just a portable pocket-like approximation of what I need.

If you need an inexpensive, quickly disposable holster for a hideout gun, the Remora is it but that's it for usefulness for me.

It's almost impossible to reholster.

It is sticky, sure, and lightweight guns may stay approximately in place IWB with a tight belt. You can move the holster slightly for comfort easily any time. Eh. Lightweight guns are pretty easy to carry no matter what gear you use.

Full size guns, like an M & P 9, are too heavy to carry well in a Remora.

Whenever you loosen your pants for any reason the holster and accompanying spare mag pouch both have to be retained manually rather than by a belt or they will fall on the floor since they are not attached to anything.

The mag carriers are unnecessarily HUGE. I cut and re-sewed mine to be about 1/2 size.

Too much work. Too cheap. Too gimmicky. Too much of a hassle for the way I carry. YMMV.

I started out with a Remora for my Shield, but unfortunately the statement that "they don't shift around" wasn't my experience at all. I thought I had my waistband tight enough, but there were s couple of times when I became aware that the whole thing was a hair away from falling out the top. Then when I was out stocking up my antique mall, doing a lot of bending, holster and gun fell down my pants leg to my ankle. Fortunately there was no one around as I pulled it out of the bottom of my pants and stuck it back in the waistband. That was the last day I carried the Remora. Now using a Desantis Tuck This 2, and very happy with it. I usally carry a Remora single mag holder.

I don't use the remora for EDC, just quick trips and for my BUG in my vest where it stays super secure within the Velcro.

I haven't had it fall out because at most its on for 2 hours at most. Other than that it's OWB Raven concealment or in a Alien IWB
