Default M&p 45 questions

I've been looking at picking up one of the police trade-ins online vs a new one. Has anyone bought the police trades? Is the trigger horrible compared to new? Should I just stick with another brand all together? Thanks for your input.

Augen,

Buying any kind of used gun can be a ****-shoot. Depending on the Department/Agency that traded in the pistols, you might "get lucky" if they were carried a lot and shot a little.

If you were at the shop, you could maybe pick and choose. On-Line, you are at their mercy. Trigger quality could be random as well.
Personally, I would not take the chance, but if you feel lucky....

Both old and new M&P45's will benefit from trigger upgrades. If you're going to upgrade anyway, go with a trade-in.
I see Buds has M&P40's starting at $300. Not a 45, but just to give you an idea.
I found my last M&P45 used at a Cabelas, so I was able to inspect it, and it cost the same as the police trade-ins, so I'd try to be patient for a local one if you have shops around you. I wouldn't pay more than $350 for a police trade-in, although the M&P45's tend to be really nice regardless.

Even if I had a "police trade in", my experience wouldn't help you. Usage varies a tremendous amount depending on the department it came from. It would be the same to ask, "Are all used M&Ps OK?"

What I can tell you is the M&P is a very durable gun. So, even if it was used a lot, there is a high probability that it will still function fine.
