Default Day & night sights for M&P- shield & 9c

I have had and carried a 1.0 9mm shield. It came with factory night sites. I like this fine. But find in daylight the fromt site is not as conspicuuas I’d like. At night they are OK.

I recently bought a 3.6” 2.0. 9c. With factory white dots.

My goal is to set up both the shield and 9c with identical sights.

I am currently down to two options as being on the top of my list but am open to other suggestions. My two fav’s at this point are:

1) Trijicon HD. With orange front sight.
2) TFX-pro.

I like the contrast of green rear dots with orange front. I also like the fiber optic daylight feature while still retaining tritium night sight fearure. Which is what has brought me to these two options.

I am leaning more towards the Trijicon HD. Mainly because the shield already has a short sight radius and the long front site of the TFXpro reduces it even further. While the HD will essentially keep the factory sight radius.

I have also seen good reviews on the “Idot” set up. Although I’m not sure how “natural” it is to line up two dots vertically, rather than the more familiar traditional 3 dots horizontally.

What sights are you using on your SD EDC and why? What other options did you consider and why did you eliminate them?

I realize at some point it becomes a personal preference. But I’d like to at least consider other peoples process while I research my own and reach my final decision.

The $50 S&W rebate from buying the 2.0 9c is burning a hole in my pocket.

I like the Ameriglo sights and have used them for a couple of my guns. They've got a bright ring around the dots for daytime use and they are very bright and easy to pick up. They offer a wide range of setups too so you'd be able to find something that you like.

I have been and currently am transitioning all of my carry pistols to I-dot sights. To me, and to many others, it is much more "natural" and easier to line up two dots (1 dot & 1 post) vertically than it is to line up three dots horizontally.

Of the 2, go with TFX Pro. I have Ameriglo Spartan Tacticals for my M&P Shield 2.0 and my M&P Compact 4" 2.0 but that wasn't among your choices. I have 3 sets of Trijicon HDs on Glocks and while they give a really good sight picture, the top ledge on the rear sight is uncomfortably sharp. Trijicon needs to fix this.

Ameriglo Idot may be in the running. One reciew in particular stated these were particularly good or liked by folks who are cross dominate eye. That is my situation. I am right handed and left eye dominate. The fact that I could buy two sets of the idots for about the same price as a single set of HD’s also is a nice bonus.

Any other thoughts by folks here who have used one or more of these sights?

My vote is for Trijicon HD on my 9mm Shield m.2. Clear and distinct, day or night.

I've changed over my factory night sights on some of my M&P's to the Ameriglo I-Dots and I really like them, I'm able to pick them up faster.

I either use Trijicon HD's:

SA137O HDNS - Trijicon, Inc.

Or Ameriglo Spartan Operators:

Smith & Wesson Spartan Operator Sets - AmeriGlo

I like the orange outline that pops nicely in daylight, while the rear sight without a white outline on the tritium vials looks black in daylight.

In low light, the orange isn't really visible, but the tritium lights up nicely.

Trijicon just bought Ameriglo I believe, and I also understand that Ameriglo uses Trijicon tritium vials, so pick up whichever you can find for the better price (typically Ameriglo is priced better)

#4095L Heinie M&P LEDGE Straight Eight Night Sight Set - Heinie Specialty Products

I am using Heine Straight Eight nite site dots and like them a lot.
Dot over dot is simple—more so than aligning three dots and definitely simpler than dots and colors. They don’t break like FO rods. The front sight is narrow. The rear notch is wide. Fast, relatively uncluttered sight picture. In daylight the tritium basically disappears giving you crisp all black sights with good space around them. At nite the figure eight dots are quick and simple to align.

I have TFO's on my Shield and love em, but recently just picked up an FNS 9 Compact with TFX Pro's... and yeah, might have to switch up the shield sights again. The TFX Pro's look great. That would be my vote.
