Default Question about a new barrel for compact

I have a 40c I have just had a few months and have seen all the threads on converting the 40S&W to a 9mm and 357sig with a barrel drop in.

My question is in a compact or for that matter any MP pistol are you able to put a longer barrel in it? Can you replace the 3.58 barrel in the 40c with one that is 4.25 or 4.5 inches long. Threaded barrels for suppressors stick out from the end and look to be about an inch longer then standard barrel .. so could you replace the barrel with a longer one??

I've noticed the end of the barrel has a bulge or is slightly larger diameter so am wondering if that can be done.
