M&P takedown lever question
On my M&P 40, when I reassemble it, the takedown lever automatically snaps back into place. I just purchased a new M&P 9 and when I reassemble it, I have to lock the slide open, then manually rotate the takedown lever. Is this normal?

It's normal in that it varies from gun to gun, whether it pops back on its own or not. I have one that is so eager to pop back that I have to hold it open while I remove the slide. I'd prefer the ones that err on the side of making you manually move it where you want it.

If anything, I just wanted to make sure this wasn't a QC problem. I'm relatively new to this platform since our department switched to S&W. All the Glocks I've owned performed exactly identical, so I was just curious.

My first 3 M&P's would "auto rotate" the takedown lever when reinstalling the slide. My newest one didn't until it hit around 8,000 rounds or so. Not exactly sure why, but didn't bother me either way.

Mine is tenuous (not sure that is the right word), but it will auto rotate back at times, and at times it will stay open. There does not seem to be any way to predict what it will do, but to say that 7 times out of 10 it auto rotates. But definitely not 100% of the time.

Dictionary.com is just a click away.
For the record, it's not the correct word. Fickle would be better. You do get points for spelling tenuous correctly though.

I like it the same way. Both of my M&P's work that way!
(Manually reset)

I have a feeling what he meant was: tenacious.
