Corbon DPX 380 or PDX1 ?
cor bons or PDX1?
I have a few boxes of cor bon 80 grain dpx and winchester PDX1 95 grain bonded for my bodyguard 380. Which is the better round for self defense?
I think it may be a tie. Corbon might be faster, but i think the heavy PDx1 will penetrate more?
What does everybody think?

380's right on the edge of expanding most HP bullets well. The 380 shooters in the family use underwoods hotter 90gr "bonded "gold dot for there carry ammo . Its advertised as a +P but run fine in small pistols and the video below show it in yours , In the family we have 2 - TCPs and 2 bersa's and a sig p250sc 380 .

I carry gold dots in my .380's but I really like Winchester PDX1 for everything else. I have just never been able to find it in .380.

A lot of the DPX rounds are relatively light comparatively, but the solid copper projectile has different performance characteristics from traditional bullet designs. I'm not familiar with it in .380, The Corbon DPX performs well and penetrates deep in every test I've seen conducted in other calibers. I carry it in .38 special and 9mm and assume the .380 would be up to the same standards.

Good 380 acp is extremely hard to find in my area too.
I actually found PDX1 in wal-Mart. All calibers too.

I 'd love to try as many as possible.....but in my area all i can find are few boxes here and there. If not for Wal mart carrying PDX1's i wouldn't have any ammo. I had to travel to a neighboring state just to find some cor bons and some american eagle FMJ 's to practice with. Never even seen HPR ammo.

On Youtube, Shooting The Bull tested .380 defense rounds. The best performers were those that used the XTP bullet. The winners (the only acceptable rounds) were in order:
1. Precision One XTP (Hard to find)
2. Fiocchi Extrema XTP
3. Hornady Custom XTP ( Not Hornady Critical Defense FTX)
4. HPR HyperClean XTP
5. Federal Premium HydraShok
You can view Shooting The Bull's results here:

In massachusetts I cannot find any of those bullets. Mail order is illegal here so i am stuck with what I have. Haven't even heard of half of those . Wal mart and a few local gun shops are all I got. Sad but true.

Aaargh! That's terrible. You have my sympathies. Since you're in one of those tiny New England states, is it possible to cross into an adjacent, more gun-friendly state, and buy your ammo there? Or does MA have ammo checkpoints at its border crossings?
Your situation makes me appreciate how fortunate we are here in Texas.

I use the Fiocchi Extrema XTP, but from watching all of Shooting the Bull episodes in 380, any ammo with the XTP bullet seems to fair well.
MrMike7189 echoed my EXACT results.
If yer hell bound on buying one of the two brands mentioned, then I would get the Carbon 80 gr.DPX. They had pretty good penetration through gel and denim. Expansion was so so, but at least they got to the vitals.
