M&P 9c Front Sight - Disappeared White Dot
Well, it finally happened to me. White dot disappeared. Known to happen frequently with Shields, less often with other M&Ps, but I can now tell you, it happens.
I've read a lot of the posts on this but called S&W to see what's the latest. You can send the gun in and they'll fix it. Or, they can send you a new front sight which is a pain to install. Or you can fix it yourself. I decided on the latter.
Per Smith:
1. Clean the sight hole out well with rubbing alcohol and let dry.
2. Get some white acrylic paint. I got a "Painters" paint pen at Walmart in the arts and crafts section for $1.97. Model airplane paint will also do fine if you have some.
3. Make a little puddle of paint. Take the end of a paper clip and wiggle in the paint. Get a small glob and spread around in sight hole. Don't need to fill it. Just coat inside.
4. Don't worry about getting excess around the sight. When dry it scrapes right off with a fingernail.
Whole thing took 20 mins. Good as new.

I had them send me a new sight. Changing it took less than 10 minutes.

Said the guy who makes sight pushers.
Because guys like you and I are mechanically inclined, the installation of a front sight is simple; even without a sight pusher. 99.999% of the gun owning public has never changed a sight or even thought of it. We've all done some paint at some point though. So, moxie's solution is a great explanation on how to fix this very minor, but common issue.

Used similar steps (except used a toothpick) to put the dot back on my mp40c. The "new" dot is still hanging in there after nearly a year.

White paint is the cure, if they send you another site more than likely the same thing will happen. Paint you just dab some in an it done. Fingernail Polish is what I use.

Another product you can use is Bic White-Out correction pen ( Any brand of correction pen will work ). Shake the pen well, press the point on the spot you want to cover and a nice round dot of white fluid is released, want a larger dot, just move the tip around. Very efficient method.....beats a brush six ways to Sunday and removes with laquer thinner or nail polish remover. I'll never go back to a brush .

I'll have to admit I've used the paint method more than once. Almost all my revolvers that didn't come with a red ramp have a Testors fluorescent orange ramp installed. Many have been there for more than 20 years and still look like the day I did them. Done couple of dot replacements as well.
Nonetheless, every shooter needs a sight pusher in their bag of goodies, preferably one from JMT

i did the nail polish color change on my 9c, not to replace a missing white dot just to give me a different color to sight with (personal preference). 1600+ rounds later it still looks the same. In fact i'd expect the paint/polish method to last quite a long time, unless holstering or more rough handling would take place.

Should have taken the opportunity to install Truglo TFX sights.
TRUGLO® | Brite•Site™ TFX™
Uses BOTH tritium for pitch-dark and fiber optic for daylight.
Part number for your S&W:
TG13MP1A
Amazing development in sights for defensive handguns.

Is there a "glow in the dark" paint that can be used for this repair? That would make for a better all around weapon in all light conditions.

Glad to read that you got it fixed...........
I have tried, white, red, pink, yellow and even black to see
if my shooting gets better in the day time.
I finally came to the conclusion that my body and eyes are wore out and it is just going down hill from now on.
Tight groups.
