Considering the press release is dated three weeks ago, it might take a while before the supply pipeline gets stock.

I have one on order too. Ordered mine at Southern Police Supply in Richmond, VA. Was told today it's 30 to 45 days out...

Can someone explain this concept to me? I would think porting a primarily defensive/CCW firearm would not be great (gasses and **** directed back at you). I thought maybe it was being set up as some sort of competition gun for women maybe?

Hmm. Good question. Julie Golob shoots one (with great success) at a recent competition, which, is posted on SW's Facebook page. I too would be interested to understand Smith's underlying philosophy for this new Shield. Personally, I'd like to have one with the performance center trigger and the high viz sights. Whatever the reason for it, I'm sure it will do well.

First range visit with the new Performance Center M&P Ported Shield 9mm. 240 rounds. 120 on each target. Right side is 1st 120, I was all over the place - left side is 2nd 120 and a bit more controlled. Shot PPU 115gr FMJ indoors @ 12 yards. Also of note: the firearm had zero malfunctions, I however had several ;-)

Loose rear sight
I just got my new ported 9mm shield and the rear sight wasn't tightened at the factory. Anyone else have the same problem? I called S&W and they're sending me a new set screw for it.

My two Shields and M&P full size, and 9c had tightened rear sights out of the box, but a buddy recently bought a 9C in carbon fiber and it almost fell out in the first 25 rounds because it wasn't tight. Guess it's just a lack of quality control and someone forgot to torque it down after putting on some loctite.

I'm selling my PC Ported Shield. Don't like it as much as the standard Shield. It's already sold to a friend, just checking in to share my disappointment with it. To light weight for my likes and the Apex trigger I put in to the standard Shield is much nicer than the PC trigger.

The PC Shield is too light, but the regular Shield is okay? I didn't think the porting removed that much weight.
