Sloppy Fit Performance Center 9L Barrel
I cant believe how much play side to side and up and down there is in my M&P9L PC pistol.
Is this supposed to be hand fitted from the "Performance Center"?

Where is or What is "Performance Center"
Can someone explain this to me why my $800 pistol wont hold tight 25 yrs groups from a rest?
Why I may need to spend another $200 on an apex barrel?
I thought for the extra $$$ I would be getting a tighter gun.....apparently not!!!!

What PC gun did you get for 800.00 and is it used cause all my PC guns start at 1k and believe me my guns all shoot amazingly great and accurate
Ps. Sorry must be semi cause of the apex barrel and PC used to be great custom work anymore I believe they're just stamping the logo on them and charging the higher price not quite what they use to be

Yup. Just to make some people mad (again), Performance Center is just Smith's way of saying, We're going to try to make guns the way we used to make them. It doesn't work for me.

FYI
M&P 9L Performance Center Ported Barrel dealer cost is $670.
I did have someone else shoot it and also was from a rest.
I feel like I got ripped off with this spray gun....

No one told me it was hand fitted.
I thought Performance Center was more than just some etching on the slide.......

I see you have two threads going with apparently the same beef. Maybe you would consider consolidating to one thread and provide a little more information about your problem. Then perhaps someone could provide some meaningful input to help you resolve your situation. There are a lot of informed people here that would like to help you out. Just complaining won't get you very far.

Eddie,
You have just joined a big crowd of M&P shooters. I paid about $700. for a Performance Center 5" ported and lightened slide CORE M&P. The first thing I noticed was the ported barrel shot an 8" group at 25 yds. I bought a non-ported 5.01" Storm Lake barrel and the groups are now more like 4-5" at 25 yds. My trigger registers over 6# and definitely hinders 25 yd. accuracy.
The way M&Ps are built an undersize muzzle end of the barrel and/or an oversize muzzle opening in the slide makes for sloppy groups.
S&W is capitalizing on the Performance Center logo to churn out guns with some gimmicks for more dollars. That's business. Most shooters at our range can't shoot an 8" group at 7 yds. so they don't complain.

Performance center...why?
Why is it you're supposed to spend hundreds of dollars for a S&W gun but if you want one that actually works like it should you have to spend big extra $$ to get one "tuned" by the performance center? What a rip-off! It's always amazed me how gun buyers routinely accept the premise that if they buy a $800 pistol they should then expect to have to spend another $300-$1000 to hire a gunsmith who will actually make the thing work as it should. If you buy a TV that doesn't work, would you be willing to pay hundreds of dollars more to make the tuner work, or would you just take it back to the store where you bought it and demand a refund? Why is it different if you buy a defective firearm?

Would it do any good?
If a gun is performing that erratically, especially a performance center gun, is S&W likely to be able or want to improve it in any way? Maybe a different barrel.
Perhaps if you determine the minute of angle at 25 yds. that would help your case.
Also IF you have anybody local that can put it on a locked rest, like a Ransom Rest, that would take the human factor out of the argument and they can't just say, "Go practice."

One thread is about the fallacy of "Performance Center" brand and price. The other is about the sloppy fit of the barrel and the lack of accuracy therin.
Thank you.

S&W Customer Service??
I'm wondering if I should bring it to S&W attention.
Does anyone have any experience with their customer service dept?
Will they stand behind their product??

Where did you purchase your new gun Eddy? Did you buy it new?
Have you shot it? If so, how did it perform?

This Forum has hundreds of threads, covering thousands of Performance Center firearms experiences, going back year after year after year. If you were truly seeking the path to ENLIGHTENMENT you would have already found it through the Search function
You have not even given Smith and Wesson a chance to fix things for you, you have not even called them, you went right into complaining mode.

Yes, I bought it new from a gun store.
Yes, I did shoot it. I didnt like the stock trigger so I put in a flat faced trigger and sear kit from apex that so many here seem to like. Definately improved the trigger, yes.
It has not performed well at all. Not even as accurate as my stock glock 19!!!!!

Not in the least
It is simple common sense........
If you made a purchase based on a false claim, you should take it back tio the seller and demand your money back.

That is because you appear to seek conflict, not resolution
If you wanted resolution, your first call would have been to shop it was bought from and then if left unresolved your next call would have been to Smith and Wesson.

If you don't like S&W then don't buy them. Shouldn't you be on a Glock website telling them all the issues you have with the S&W.
When you go to a restaurant and get a steak that is not cooked to your liking do you complain to the people at the table next to you as you eat it. Part of Smith and Wesson is they like to make sure their product meets or exceeds the customers expectations. If it has not met yours call them.
I have a feeling you like your steak well done.

Did you shoot it from a rest? If not, do that so you can truly assess its accuracy. If you already did, then fine.

Obviously you never saw or read the write up on my "Performance Center" 929.
Quick 929 review
Plus I had a new S&W M&P 9 Pro Series that had to be sent back to have the barrel replaced
because of deep gouges in the bore / rifling.
Don't get me wrong ,, I do like my S&W 's and I have several ,, but the quality coming from S&W the last several years isn't very good.

You're entirely missing the point. colt_saa et al have been polite and spot on in this thread regarding clarifying what the Performance Center does and does not offer in regards to hand-fitting and etching, that despite hair-splitting definitions you are in fact running two thread on the same complaint, and your apparent inclination toward reiterating that complaint rather than listening to constructive advice or seeking resolution.
That you ignore these things and opt instead to pick fights and name call indicates either the extent to which your frustration has short-circuited the ability to reason, or you're trolling.
Sometimes firearms don't meet our expectations; sometimes it's the fault of the firearm and sometimes the fault is our own.
There are viable, established channels for positively responding and resolving, and then there's shouting at the rain.

Well this thread is depressing. I just traded for a ported 9L, but have yet to fire it. Hopefully it is a bit more accurate than the OP's.

I would really like to reply to this statement in a similar manner but we do have rules here and being polite is one of those rules. I would suggest that you take the time to read what you have posted and think about the attitude those posts convey. I will also point out that unless you provide some actual specifics of what you are seeing that none of us will be able to provide any useful guidance.
FYI, 99 % of all accuracy complaints on gun forums end up being a shooter related issue instead of a firearms issue. Note, I have been able to shoot a scope equipped handgun to 7/8 inch groups at 50 yards from a rest but I could not do that today. Because getting to that level of accuracy required practicing twice a week for 6 weeks straight. If you are expecting any particular brand, sight, or trigger tweak to suddenly make you a better shooter I have bad news for you, the only way to become a better shooter is to put in the hours to make that happen.

My Pro 9L and Core 9L fit fine. Sounds like you either need to give S&W a call or sell the gun. It seems nothing on this message board will satisfy you.

Excellent list of things you need very much.
First, though, you need to call S&W and let them evaluate the gun to determine if it's to spec.
Hope you get your problems solved.
