45c, doesn't feel like a hunk of 2X4.

I've actually owned both just this year. Both were equally reliable. The 30sf had an advantage in having the shorter length for carry but it felt "brick like" in my hand. I sold it off shortly as I just wasn't impressed with how it handled.. For me, the 45c is just much more ergonomic and easier to shoot accurately.

I've had both. I have neither, now. The Glock 30sf has the advantage of two additional rounds. The M&P45c has the advantage of good ergonomics. I really liked the way it felt in the hand as opposed to the 30sf. However, I found that I still preferred the 1911 to either.
