Default Need help on my recent M&P 45c purchase!

As I stated in previous post I am a new gun owner never purchase a firearm before, tried to do research on the process but I may or may not got screwed? Here is my situation yesterday went into a small gun store, (the same store my wife,mother-in-law and myself are scheduled to take our CPL Class 1-9-2016) after 3 hrs waiting for a background check I purchased a S/W 45c for $505.98. Upon getting home with it I noticed the test casing had a date of 11/13/2013, and on the blue box it also had 11/13/2013, making the gun 2yrs old, he sold it as new, also it came with 3 magazines and the product #308109, and the inside of the barrel has copper color markings very bad. I went to Gander Mountain they have a 45c with a test casing and on the box date of 10-15-2015 only $30 more, and product #108109, and the barrel is very clean no copper marks!
I went to the gun shop he is not in until Monday, and in all the confusion yesterday did not see "all sales final" on my receipt. Does any think I have a problem with this gun being 2yrs old? Just a bad experience for me on my very first purchase, any feedback would help! Thanks

I don't understand why you think this is a problem. Just because the gun was test fired and packaged at the factory in 2013 does not mean it went out the door then. It will go to a distributor who sells to a dealer who puts it up for retail sale, then a buyer comes along.... Copper in the barrel is insignificant... the factory shoots them but does not clean guns.

Your gun is fine. S&W test fires their guns and a dirty bore is not unusual. They do not clean them after test firing. Product 308109 is a Law Enforcement only version of the gun. It may have sat on the dealer's shelf for a while but it is still a new gun and you still have full warranty protection.

Don't overthink this. Go shoot and enjoy.

I can't tell you for sure that you bought a law enforcement trade in, it may very well be brand new for sure. But you have every right to be a little concerned about your purchase because you were under the assumption it was a brand new gun and you purchased it as such and that was what you were wanting and the store you purchased it from sounds like a big law enforcement store from what you stated in your other post on this subject, for buying and selling and trading guns but that doesn't mean its used either. The way you described the packaging though is the way new M&P's come exactly, but that also doesn't completely rule out that it wasn't a possible trade in, "in like new good condition" with everything that comes with a new M&P. You paid a good price for it though for having the three mags and being the leo version in Michigan. My M&P 45 fullsize that I bought recently had a good amount of copper fouling in the barrel to that I had to remove and it had a 11/13/2014 date on it and it was a brand new gun but not a law enforcement version. It was the threaded barrel kit version, which they removed the threaded barrel from the sell to knock the price down for me which was very nice cause they know me pretty well luckily.

If you're worried it may be used, submit the warranty registration. I expect S&W will let you know if it has been registered previously. Pretty sure you can do it online. Otherwise, relax and enjoy your great new gun. Thinking a compact .45 will be my next.

I've got the same one and I love it.
The 45c is one of the best in the M&P line, in my opinion.

Have fun and be safe. 2.5 hr wait to get on the range is a rough way to start though.

I bought a 45c yesterday with thumb safety in fde.
It was dated February of 2014.
Dirty barrel with some copper on the spring. I am sure yours is new as is mine. Have fun!
