Default New M&P Stainless Guide Rods

I saw some post on another forum that they have swapped out their Shield guide rods for some stainless ones from here: SSguiderods.com

I understand you get a single spring with it. I was wondering if anyone here has tried one of these and if the springs stand up and the gun isn't getting beat up in recoil.

There are a few here. They're not really 'new'. They've been around for a Year or two.
Most tried them out due to the backlog on getting Factory replacement RSAs from S&W CS.

Do a search for Shield RSA and you should find some background.
I never tried 'em, due to the cost (considering one needs to send in their Factory RSA so they can rework it) and the fact that my RSA never had any problems.

I'm sure everyone that's made the jump will chime in.

I tried it, works great. I sold the Shield to fund a nice 1911 and passed the rod on to another Shield owner who was having problems.

"and the gun isn't getting beat up in recoil"

That is my #1 concern too. I would think a double spring assembly would be more costly to produce than a single spring one, so if a single spring assembly was sufficient I would think S&W's bean counters would have them using it instead.

Until I have proof to the contrary I'll stay with the factory RSA.
