Default Shot Show 2016 - Smith & Wesson Product Line

Rumors of a Gen 2 coming out to S&W product line are just rumors, no changes coming. Plus, S&W would not call it a Gen 2 version. S&W is working on getting a military contract and are doing some internal modifications to some of the guns that will be in the contract, should they get it, but not to the commercial version(s).

The guns that are new (already released to the market) are the following:

SW22 Victory (.22LR)

M&P 15-22 Sport (.22LR)

PC Ported M&P Shield (9mm & 40 S&W)

I might buy a new 15-22 Sport now that they got rid of the cheese grater forend, but that .22 pistol is stone ugly.

Well that's disappointing that there is no gen 2. How are they going to compete with the modularity of the Sig p320 with just "internal modifications"?

S&W 2016 Catalog (PDF)

That SW22 Victory sure looks like a restyled Browning Buckmark.

They are now offering a no thumb safety BG380.

Forgive my ignorance, but could someone please explain what a modular handgun is? I googled it, but didn't find a good answer. Thanks!

The oddest thing I saw was a port core model with a threaded barrel. Not sure how effective a suppressor would be on a ported barrel.

I probably missed it, but I don't see the M&P CORE pistols mentioned in the 2016 catalog.
