Default Is this normal?

Just picked up my brand new in box M&P 45 yesterday. Upon field stripping it for its initial clean/lube, I noticed their was very slight wear marks on the barrel, and the hood of the barrel. The bore was rather dirty too. This was definitely definitely a new gun because they pulled it right from the back. I will let you guys know how she shoots next week!

It's hard to tell how severe the markings are. However, the factory does fire them before shipping so they can arrive dirty. All the more reason to field-strip and clean them!

Looks normal to me, but in person it might look different.

Mine was the same way when I bought it last year. Function checks and a live fire will do that-no worrys. Clean, lube, insert loaded mag and enjoy.

Even if you had received it pristine from the factory, without being test fired, it would look like that after your first range trip. Metal-on-metal will cause wear, even with lube and they don't clean each pisol after test fire.

You weren't planning on keeping it in a presentation/display case, were you?
