without starting a flame thread on the use of a safety, what do you think of this modded safety?

Sure looks easier to use than the OEM one. even if it was half asl long as the one shown here, it would be nice

Looks like it'd be easier to engage/disengage. If you use your safety on the BG and have issues operating it, it'd be a decent investment.

Update on stiff safety----

After wondering why my safety was soo stiff, I took it all apart and looked at the interaction of the safety and it's spring. I found that the nub on the safety was very rough as it's just a stamping. So I smoothed it with a fine ceramic stone, after rubbing it over 400 grit paper, basically making the nub smooth from it's apex and down the sides. didn't remove any material to speak of, just shined it up.

After reassembling it with just a touch of grease on the nub, it is so much smoother , can now easily flip it off with the side of my thumb at the 1st joint, instead of digging at it with the inside tip of my thumb .

Found a utube video on how to drop the polly case and reassemble, it was a breeze to open it up.

Much happier now, as I do like to use the safety when not carrying it.

Just a little smoothing at the factory would have made all the difference in having a safety function properly. I may see if S&W will sell me a spare safety and add some metal like the picture shown at the top of this thread.

With the addition of some Talon grips, there is nothing that I can see would improve the function and handling of the 380. If it were my wife's, I would do the extended mod for sure.

To each his own but I don't modify any carry gun beyond a change of grips (Hogue slip on grip in this case) and painting the front sight. I'm not knocking others but changing anything from factory specs just makes me uncomfortable.
