Looking for suggestions to run about 100 rounds through the gun to before testing SD ammo. Any suggestions?

I like Blazer Brass for range ammo. Out of several thousand rounds never had a single issue. It can be had for $11 per box if you order it by the case.

I use Perfecta ammo at the range. It's a Walmart thing and runs about $9 a box. It is a little more dirty than the Winchester white box that I also use but can't beat the price. I also use the Perfecta in my FS 40 and haven't had any issues.

I use the range ammo where I shoot. It is out of Kansas City. Never had a problem with it. On Target Ammunition.

115gr FMJ

almost 300 error free rounds down range

THIS. The Shield is a pretty hungry animal and not too finicky.

Although, there has been a few people on this forum that have had some failures with 115gr. It has been suggested to them to run 124.

I only run 124gr through mine. 300+ rounds of FMJ with no failures.

good buy on remington UMC at cabelas right now $11.99 for 50. Good clean burning reliable ammo. My only real advice, shoot the same weight ammo when broken in that you shoot as personal defense. 124 fmj should shoot the same as 124 gr jhp.

while i haven't picked up a Shield (yet lol) both my compact and full size MP 9's have ran perfectly on Blazer brass, Remington UMC, and Herters (Cabelas) 115 fmj.
They have been 100% flawless (2600+ rounds) and i normally pick them up in the $10-12 range max for 50 at Gander, Cabelas, and even Dicks when on sale.

OP, in my Shield research, seems some have also mentioned from an accuracy stand point that 124 grain does better for them over 115.
Perhaps grab a couple boxes of the same brand but different grain to compare for yourself to see what works best for you.

funny you should mention this, I've run about 300 rounds through my shield 9mm this week, been using WWB 115 and I've had a FTE every day. Just one each day, I'm wondering if it's the 7 round magazine as it's only happened with tat one. Other wise no problems at all. I guess I need to find some 124 GR and give it a try.
I run WWB 165 through my FS .40 or 180gr American Eagle with zero issues. I'm getting close to 1000 rounds with that one.
I love that gun

The only FMJ ammo I've tried that gives my Shield 9 problems is Winchester NATO. I don't know why, because my SIG P320 loves it. So most any other quality FMJ brand should work. I second the use of 124 grain versions. Also, I'm somewhat of an ammo snob, and I never use steel or aluminum cartridges, only brass. I don't know for sure if steel or aluminum cartridges are harder on chambers, extractors, or ejectors than brass, but I'm unwilling to use my Shield (or my other guns) to experiment.

I've been using Freedom Munitions 124gr FMJ fpr range ammo and have not had a problem. I only buy the new ammo, no reloads. Usually runs about $11.50 a box with free shipping. I also use their .380 90 gr XTP in my Glock. It's good enough I use it for carry ammo. I haven't had a bad round from them.

May not be the answer you are expecting but practice with any cheap ammo until you feel comfortable and then practice with your SD ammo until you know how the weapon feels (i.e. kicks more, cycles ok, etc ).

Buy the FMJ ammo online by the case - be willing to pay about $200 - $220 shipped

Buying on line is much cheaper. Just ordered Blazer ammo yesterday, brass casings, for $9.43/box of 50.

For range use, I like--in this order:
Blazer Brass 115 & 124 FMJ
Sellier & Bellot 115/124 FMJ
and Magtech 115 FMJ

I always buy 1,000 round cases online exclusively and pay an average cost of .20 per round for any of the above choices, excluding shipping. I go through around 200 rounds every week, so it makes sense (and saves a lot of money) to buy in bulk and online. I only use factory new ammo in my Shield.

In addition to my favorites above, I've tried Winchester White Box and Freedom Munitions (factory new). I had a few FTF and hard primer (needs second strike to fire) with Freedom...so they are on the back burner. WWB was relatively too expensive and the others actually performed better in my experience.

Use sgammo.com as a baseline for price/shipping and then Google search ( ammo search engine ) to pick a better price/shipping cost. Some ammo vendor has low price on ammo but ridiculously high shipping charge.

My 2 Shields eat whatever I feed them! In 9mm I've shot WWB 115 gr., REM-UMC 115 gr., Blazer Brass 115 & 124 gr., Federal Champion Aluminum 115 gr., Federal Champion (brass) 115 gr. and carry Hornady CUSTOM 147 gr. XTP for SD. 115 gr. ammo shoots great in my Shield-124 gr. shoots even better. The 147 gr. SD ammo is incredible in my Shield! Try some of the heavier bullet weights and see if there's a difference in yours. :-)

I have been happy with Speer Lawman 115g FMJ 10.99 for a box of 50. If you order bulk (1000 rounds) then the shipping is free from Target Sports USA.

My Shield 9 was, at the beginning, a horrific disaster with 115g. Over many calls with CS, they advised 124g.

In any case, my now standard range ammo for the Shield 9 is Speer Lawman 124g FMJ, ZQI NATO 123g FMJ, or American Eagle 124g FMJ. Check SGAmmo. They have been very good about shipping and orders. I've found ~ $10 / 50 rounds. The price fluctuates constantly.

Remington UMC 115g JHP is, I suspect, almost +P, and runs great. If you find it at WalMart, it runs just at $30/100 rounds.

$30 per 100 rounds--that's $300 (before tax) for 1,000 rounds ($.30 per round). I routinely get same or better quality/power like S&B 115 online for $200 ($16 or so for shipping).
Save almost $100 by buying bulk when your local laws allow.

(as of 0945 Central today) LAX AMMO is having a sale on 1000-round cases of Blazer Brass 115 for $195 ($.195 per round). Don't know what their shipping to your home would be, but I've bought from them in the past and they were very reasonable and fast.

I use ammoseek.com to find the best prices.

Along the same lines, how do people feel regarding brass vs steel casings? Steel seems to be cheaper but from what I have read, "dirtier".

Thanks for all the suggestions. I would love to buy online but I live in the communistic unconstitutional state of Connecticut and they won't let you ship to your house. You have to shop to an FFL and after transfer costs etc it probably my just doesn't make sense.

I've run 115gr exclusively through mine with zero problems. Then again, I've never used any Winchester ammo in it. So far, it happily eats Federal Champion, Fiocchi (which I found for $10.99 a box at Cabela's) Blazer Brass, some locally made green boxed Georgia 9mm (can't remember the brand name) and even bulk "gun show" ammo.
The Fiocchi is by far, the cleanest and most consistent shooting ammo I've used. It's also the most unique looking. The projectile appears to be brass plated and is the exact same color as the shell. Their 22LR is the same way. After about 300 rounds of each, both my pistols still looked as clean as they did before I started.

Default S&W M&P 9mm ported barrel Cleaner Ammo ?

My ported barrel is filthy and I start to get jams after about 80 rounds of the Italian ammo my range sells.

Any suggestions on cleaner burning ammo. This is 115 grain being used.

All but one of my guns are 9mm. I've settled on Aguila 124gr FMJ. Some of my guns shoot low with 115gr, plus my VP9 supposedly is designed to shoot 124gr NATO. I buy a case for $199 every time the liar in chief opens his mouth about gun control. I'm up to 6000 rounds at the moment.

My friend's new Shield jammed on every mag of Aluminum casings.FTE double feeds...gave him a box of Perfecta and it ran flawlessly.
I stick with brass only and never have issues even shooting one handed.
Go with the cheapest brass and you will be fine!

a local store to me just got in a ton of the Fiocchi. I knew nothing about that brand , I'll have to check it's pricing.
300 rounds later I've shot some 124gr american eagle
and 3 differnt brands of HP ammo.
No issues, as this gun breaks in it's gets better and better.
