Hello all,

I bought a M&P Shield Performance center 40 about a month ago, and went to the range. I have roughly about 500 rounds thru the barrel and I’ve noticed about 4 times the slide locked back with rounds remaining in the mag. What would you think could cause this? The mag can be released, without any binding of the round. It acts as if I locked the slide back and inserted the mag to start my shooting, but it was after a couple shot. I have planned on contacting S&W and see what could be done, but don’t want to be away from my EDC…

What’s your thoughts?

Your thumb is the most likely suspect. I have seen more than one problem from riding the slide catch on a Shield; it is easy to do.
