Default Question for 22 compact owners on takedown lever

I just bought a new M & P 22C compact at a gun show this morning. I got my wife into shooting and she just about has taken over the one I bought last year. When I took it apart to clean for my range trip on Monday the takedown lever just about fell out. It will pop out when you turn the gun over. This is the second one that I own and the one I bought last year doesn't do it. The manual says it shouldn't be removed but I'm just wondering if this is something new since my other doesn't do it. It is so loose I'm sure I could remove it. The lever also feels like plastic not like the older one I own. It doesn't seem to effect the function of the gun.

I would call S+W CS Monday. I've never seen the lever move out like that.

Just looked at mine, it doesn't come out that way. There's a detent spring on the opposite side that might be related and missing.

Called CS this morning and they emailed me a Fed Ex label. It will be on it's way back today. Now for the wait.
