Default Newbie question

New to S&W so forgive me if this has been answered. What is the difference between a M&P 9c and a Shield 9mm? The S&W website shows a difference of magazine capacity and barrel length. I fired a 9c yesterday at the gun club I am a member at and loved it. Would I notice a difference between the two? I currently am using a SD9VE with all of the Apex upgrades.

TIA,

Ken

9c is a wider, double stack mag pistol capable of holding 12+1 rounds with standard mag

Shield is thinner, lighter single stack mag pistol capable of holding 7+1 rounds with standard mag.

Shield is about 1/2"shorter in length

And the Shield's mag release is not capable of being moved to the right side, nor is the thumb safety ambidextrous if so equipped.

And there are no interchangeable grip panels / backstraps on the Shield. IMO, if you can hide the Shield, you can probably hide the 9c with just a small bit of compromise in the width. If you liked the 9c's feel, I'd say go for it. If you really want a slimmer gun, then I guess the Shield is the answer. To me, however, I feel like the Shield is not nearly as comfortable in the hand.

It may be a future purchase. My SD9VE is great right now, but I would like to have a M&P. The aftermarket support is a lot greater than with mine, and the availability of a compact. Of I can find a good deal I may try and move but right now I'll be staying put. I have to purchase my wife her M&P first ha ha.
