Default Installed the Apex trigger and carry kit last night

for anyone on the fence about installing one of these, DO IT. my trigger is butter smooth now. The only hiccup for me during the install was self-inflicted during reassembly, I got one of the steps out of order... went back and rewatched the video, did it the right way and it went back together easily... my bad...

I did it on my 45c (carry/duty) install was easy, front sight took me longer than the rear, tricky part is the trigger spring as usual even with the yellow sleeve. I like it better specially the positive reset, that was my main issue.

it depends of the caliber, and what's your purpose, these are duty/carry.

Steveh326, what Apex trigger did you get, aluminum or polymer? Has anyone done the Apex duty/carry kit but kept the stock trigger?

My daily carry is a 1911, currently a S&W 1911 PD. I am making the switch to a striker-fired pistol and picked up an M&P 9 - really struggling with the trigger. Tried a Glock 19 with stock trigger; better in some ways but still weird to me. Besides, I like the way the M&P points. Have done a considerable amount of competitive pistol shooting with revolver and 1911 platforms but this is a whole new animal, so any advice would be appreciated.

you don't have to change the trigger if you don't want to, I installed the duty/carry kit on my 45c and kept the stock trigger, in fact I ended keeping all the original springs just swapped the sear for the apex, I tried different configuration I found that the most benefit is on the apex sear (-2lb).

I emailed apex because my trigger was still heavier than advertised and they replied to me that their trigger return spring is heavier (1lb) than the stock to compensate the reduced trigger pull (2lb) from the apex sear.

I put in the duty carry kit in our 9c's. I at first left the stock trigger in, but I did not like how it physically felt, so I swapped it out for an Apex one. Changing the trigger was a personal decision. It is fine leaving in the factory trigger with the duty carry kit if you want.

I installed the Apex duty action carry kit and Apex polymer in my M&P 9c and man do I like it now. I didn't like the factory hinged in the middle trigger. World of difference in the pistol now. Trigger pull just at 4 lbs and a lot smoother and I don't tend to pull off target like I was doing with the pistol.

I did just the spring in my 9c.

Then did the DIY polishing and slightly opened up the gap on the loop at the end of the trigger bar. I am quite happy w/ this setup.

why would you want to increase the trigger pull? isn't heavy enough from factory? I did the duty carry on my 45c but ended just leaving the apex sear with stock springs, cause the apex trigger return spring was making the trigger pull heavier.

Although I didn't carry them I am used to a Beretta 92 and it's heavy long DA first pull. W/ them we always worked to lighten the DA pull some. My first carry gun was a Keltec PF9 w/ it's long pull all the time. BTW, no safety on my pistol so I am more comfortable w/ a bit more effort needed as long as the trigger pull is smooth.

All my M&Ps are Apexed. Personal preference whether to use the original spring or Apex. To me, the original spring w/ apex sear was too light. Great if it was a range/woods gun, but not so much for self defense. I was skeptical about the apex trigger until installing one. Now all my M&Ps have the apex trigger, polymer for every one but the Shield (no polymer option).
