Question Apex Sear only in a Shield?

Has anyone installed just the Apex sear in their Shield?

Was it worth it? Did the trigger feel noticeably lighter? Any reliability issues?

I have 757 rounds without issue through the 10086 Shield and am considering this upgrade to just lighten the trigger a little bit. Though part of me hates the idea of fiddling with a thus far, flawless carry gun. This Shield is my primary carry gun.

Thanks!

According to apex sear only should take -2lb of trigger pull.

I replaced the sear and firing pin safety block with Apex parts and also used some semi-chrome paste with a Q-tip to polish the foot on the firing pin. These changes gave me a nice clean trigger pull, without changing the firing pin spring.

On mine the USB was ok (no real grittiness like one compact I have) and ended up replacing only the sear on my Shield with the one you linked.

It's been a while since I did it, but did like the results. I saved the old sear in case I did not like it or had to send it in, but have not looked back since the change.

I just shot my shield and 9c this week. 4.2 # trigger on shield and 6.9# on my 9c, all factory. First time I shot the 9c so no surprise on the higher trigger pull.

I have done this exact replacement. Respectfully to triggerman, in my pistol he is wrong. Before the replacement, my shield, had a 7 lb 5 oz trigger , it was gritty and indistinct. I had shot more than 750 rounds through it and cleaned it every time I shot it. After the replacement, it is now at a smooth and solid 4 lbs 5 oz and is , in my hands a much more accurate pistol.

IMHO, it is a worthwhile and effective upgrade and is also very cost effective. By the way, the upgrade can with a reasonable amount of skill and having a youtube video close at hand be very easy to accomplish.

I've put the Apex sear only in all of my M&Ps which includes the Shield and it does improve the pull. I also round/polish the factory striker blocks myself since it's easy to do. I don't like to change the springs in pistols and prefer not to unless that's the only way to get a lighter pull.

I just did the apex duty/carry kit on my 45c and found out that the apex springs don't do much, the most benefit is on the apex sear. I measured the trigger pull with the apex sear only and the the trigger pull was reduced by 2lb.
