Recommend ammo for m&p 22
I was fortunate to be able to put in jail (10 day waiting period for ca) m&p 22. Off roster so only available through PPT. What recommend ammo have most used. Ive heard some recommend the cci mini mag but no easy to come by. Been able to find some winchester & federal for just about .07 cent and ammo. Wanted to know if these will cycle ok just for price wise. Mostly for target & paper shooting. Fun shooter.

My son has a new M&P .22, purchased last Saturday, fired the first time on Sunday.
No trouble at all with these. No failure of any kind.

I'm fortunate to have an LGS here that almost always keeps the CCI Mini Mags at a decent price but has a limit of two 100 rounds packs per customer. I think I'm up to about 3k of them at the moment from frequent stops there. So far that's all I have fed my 22c. My father in law has run just about everything through his and most has been the cheap stuff I won't even consider buying. So far he's only had a few that jammed.

I've put several different brands through my 22 compact, all without any problem.

my compact .22 has had 0 ammo issues, and I've ran 36 & 40 gn Mini mags thru it as well as Federal automatch and Federal champ. In fact as it seems to eat anything i can use it to go thru ammo that my Buckmark maybe didn't like so much. So having this compact in my little collection means i can have more flex in the ammo i pick up.
Not sure if the full size MP .22 is the same or has more of the "usual" finicky ammo needs like most .22's seem to have.
Guess I'd suggest buying a few boxes of different types to see what worked best, and then focus on that brand/style when its available. As it is possible that what works in one person's gun just wont work in another's

For my MP22 Compact, it seems to like the high velocity stuff - CCI Mini-mags and Remington Golden Bullet especially. It does not like Federal Champions though. I got lots of FTFs.

Ditto...no problems...LOTS of Federal and Aguila and tried a few of almost everything else. Have an FTF on occasion but just clear it and move on. In 2k rounds maybe 5.
High Velocity.....good
Std. Velocity......good
Sub-sonic..........bad (aka:CCI Quiet) but I had to try
That little sucker is sooooooooo fun

I have good luck with about any. Do not use Remington Thunderbolts. Just my humble opinion. They are filthy. But they mostly do fire.

I agree. I will not use the rest of the Thunder Bolt that I have. (maybe 400 rnds), It is very dirty and will lead up the barrel. Not worth the work to clean it.

It depends on your gun. That's all there is to it. Try a few, see what it likes.

I've shot Federal bulk, Winchester bulk and CCI Minimags from my full size M&P 22 and I can't remember when I've had a FTF or a FTE with any of these. It has even run good on Remington Golden Bullets.

I use Winchester 40gr power points (1280 fps) for competition and Federal champion 40 gr solids (1240 fps) for plinking. Both with no FTF or FTE.
