M&P9 question
My new full size has an issue that concerns me (perhaps without cause).
Fire till slide catch, insert next mag and slide is closing on its own frequently. None of my other guns do this. What should I be looking for?

Doesn't sound like a real issue to me. If one seats a magazine smartly, or extra firmly, with the locked back slide, they will often close up and go into battery.
Not a criticism of your technique. I think magazines should be seated firmly and smartly. I've seen malfunctions induced by those who gingerly press a magazine in. They don't get them fully seated, then they close the slide on an empty chamber when they didnt intend to, or present the weapon and have the mag fall out. A little comical on a range, potentially deadly on the street.

It's referred to as "Auto Forward". It's not a design feature but is common with many poly pistols.
I can get mine to do the same but I really have to whack the mag. (OK, that doesn't sound right)
Do you release the locked slide using the slide stop, or do you rack the slide (slingshot, overhand, etc.)?

It's not a design but it does happen. I get it occasionally across the board with all my semi autos.

My full size 9 does this very consistently. It surprised me at first, but now I'm used to it and like this "feature". My 9c will do it on occasion, but it takes a noticeably harder "whack" on the magazine to get it to close.

I did some reading (wrong order to do things of course ). I see its common. I'm not gentle but not slamming either. I figure a reload is meant to quick

Whack a Mag. Mine have never done it but I don't whack very hard but I do pull down to check seating.

My M&P's are the only ones that do this. Was concerned at first as well, called S&W engineer said "not a design feature, but also not a flaw"
