Question M&P shield .45

I just purchased a 45 shield. Put 100 rounds through it. 50 win 230 grain target, and 50 230 grain hydra shoc. All went perfectly until the 97th round. The slide stayed back as if the magazine was empty. I looked in the ejection port and everything was in order, 2 rounds left in the magazine, except the slide stop had somehow came on. All I had to do was pull the slide back and let go, fired my last 2. Has anyone had this happen to them? What are possible causes? Thanks, any advice is welcome.

Possibly your left hand accidentally hit the slide lock when you fired the round.

Thanks for the suggestion Cliff. I didn't think about it being my left hand. I couldn't figure how my right hand could have gotten that far up the grip. Thanks again.

I hope that works for you. It seems it's pretty common with the Shield with the small grip.

Thanks, I love it. I have had a shield 40 for a couple years now, love that one too but it's just not a 45.

I have a shield 45 just put fiber optic sights on it, probably fired about 100 rounds and all of a sudden it jams quite abit, I tried different ammo same problem. Bulls eye every time but it don't feed, guess it goes back to manf next week.

I've done the finger hitting the slide lock a few times myself. On mine, the 7 round mag would drop (not completely) with 2 rounds left. Did it continually so I sent it back to S&W. Got it back with new innards. They felt that it was the follower hitting the mag release latch on the inside.
