My EDC is a Beretta 92fs in a custom leather OWB holster at 4 o'clock with my shirt tail over it. It falls somewhere between OC and CC due to the bottom of the holster sticking out under my shirt. It is by far the most comfortable setup I own!

If I know I'm going somewhere where I need deep concealment, I carry a Taurus 709 slim in an alien gear IWB but it's not nearly as comfortable.

Depends on 'scenery.'

Most of the time either my M&P 40c, or my M&P 357c in a BlackHawk Serpa OWB. Other times my M&P 40FS, same holster.

Always carry 1-2 spare mags in off-side cargo pocket (if shorts) or mag holster otherwise. Always loaded with JHP, 180gr.

I carry a 380 Bodyguard.Tried shooting quite a few guns before I bought mine.I was the most accurate with the BG. Fit great in my hand once I put a small mag extender on it. I like that it has I little heaver trigger pull no accidental fire. Easy to conceal. All around great gun for me. And all three of my sisters carry one also.

Most of the time and now in the heat of summer I carry my LCP, other times and cooler weather and depending on mood it's a Smith 36 or my Glock 27.....
It's what works for me!

I guess it's considered a full size, but I carry the HK P30, in a cobra brand leather iwb holster. Maybe it's considered a compact, since the P30sk, is the next smaller offering is a sub-compact??

It's Africa hot down here although sometimes it drops down to WAY hot. Thus, khakis and a Polo most of the year. I, therefore, carry a Ruger LCP in a DiSantis pocket holster. In weather cool enough for an outer garment, I carry a variety: S &W mod. 60, Walther PPK, Ruger LC9. In the big city and with appropriate weather, an M&P 40 or 9mm, both full size or Ruger R1911. Choice is by whim. I practice with all of them regularly.

Predominately G27. Have stopped carrying the G43 and considering the Shield. I'd prefer .40 in a single stack. I have a $299 coupon that's staring me down.

^ This. My scenery is a grey overcast rainy downtown sanctuary city where the homeless/transient/mental-drug cases range.

.40 cal is as small of a caliber I'm willing to defend with. Minimum daily carry is 20 rounds. None of my colleagues EDC anything less than 8 rnds. Glocks are fan favorites because of the ability to carry full size mags as back-up(s). Most drop to a pocket pistol when attire/event prohibits.

For formal occasions where it's tough to carry a compact--the Shield's .40/.45 is a hot contender to replace my G43 which now sits with the wife next to her lipstick. Size/thickness matters in formal wear/semi-formal events.

I carry a 9mm Shield most of the time, usually in an Alien Gear 2.0 IWB.
Sometimes I carry my Glock 19 in a Remora or Crossbreed Supertuck.
And when the cold winds blow I occasionally carry a full-size Ruger SR45 in an Alien Gear IWB.

Nearly anytime I am wearing pants with a belt, a .40 Glock and a G22 magazine is with me. Right now it is my newly issued G23 gen 4.

Usually my M&P 9c, but occasionally my Ruger LCR and my SIG 239. All depends on the clothing I wear.

Ive been switching between my SAR B6P compact 9mm and SAR k2 .45, but I just ordered an OWB pancake holster, so my newly acquired Pre-Model 10 4in and Model 19-3 4in are entering the lineup

Mostly an M&P9c in a Galco Triton IWB holster, the rest of the time is split between a 4516-1 In a Don Hume holster or a 586 no dash in ElPaso Saddlery leather thumb break holster.

FS M&P 9, capacity and muzzle velocity. 17 + 1 don't feel the need to carry all the extras to get 20 -30 rounds therefore making it easier to conceal.
Alien gear cloak tuck 3.0 and 5 11 belt. So comfortable I forget it is even there!!!

Like everyone else, all depends on clothing weather and activity. So the wife and I both carry and bounce between a Berreta Tomcat, Glock 27, Shield 9mm, and soon, a Glock 42. I do carry my Colt M1911 but not on my person

Sticky Holster in Pocket:
1.875" 442

OWB:
2" 10-5 main carry, usually open
1.875" 36 or 640 for when I want to conceal under a T-shirt or if I don't want my 10 exposed to elements. The 36 is a beater, but I'll switch to the 640 on really wet days.

Soon to be added to the OWB list...BOTTOMFEEDERS! (as soon as I get holsters made)
Glock 19 with a tactically awesome OD green frame.
3913TSW with a cool tactical rail (I actually hate it, but these don't come up for sale often)
1066 because 10mm. enough said.

Since I've put over 200 rounds through it now, I switched to my FS M&P9 from my 640 - 357

I'm surprised there aren't more people carrying full size pistol but instead single stack pistol with additional mags which imo is cumbersome.

When I was carrying the Shield, it was almost a requirement to carry an extra mag, sometimes 2 extra mags due to the small capacity.

Now that I carry a MP9 FS and have gotten used to it, it's quite comfortable and I have only 1 thing to carry/worry about in relation to my firearm. One of the reason I decided to carry a Full Size because unless the CNS is hit (brain, brain stem, spinal cord, etc...) the BG have seconds to minutes to return fire before losing consciousness. A Full Size 17+1 allows continuous fire until the threat is stop whether it be 1 round or all 18 rounds...changing mag in the middle of a firefight is not something I'd want to do.

Another reason is I've focus on follow-up shots and the MP9 FS is one of the softest shooter on the market along with Federal HST 147 gr...there's literally no recoil or muzzle flip. Also having a big black gun adds to the intimidation factor which may or may not help diffuse a situation.

Although mag failure is a reality, no knowledgeable gun owner should be using an untested magazine in their EDC...recipe for trouble if you ask me. Test the gun and mag at least 200 rounds before EDC.

I've ponder the various SD senarios and decided the FS was going to be my go to firearm. If I was unfortunate to be between the BG and exit, I'm going to need to put as many holes in the BG as possible to stop the assault and a Shield doesn't give me as much confidence. We all know that pistols are for punching holes and shotguns/AR15 are the stopping power.

Most will carry an extra mag or two not so much for capacity but for malfunction. The mag is the semi-automatics achilles heel so to speak. 7 out of 10 malfunctions will originate from the mag.

So even if you have 17 on board you'd be wise to make concessions for carrying an extra mag.

I just went back to a revolver myself from a Glock because I could not and do not trust any auto loader. I never once got through a range session without multiple malfunctions and the last time out in a controlled environment I could not clear with the simple tap and rack.

Got home, cleaned it up and sold it.
I can moon clip reload as quick as you can with a mag. And if it fails to go boom I keep pulling the trigger until it does.

And if the hits are not on target doesn't mean anything how many rounds you have, spray and pray seldom works out here in the real world and if you are facing someone with a gun they are no doubt intent on stopping you as well.

I myself am not looking to get into a fire fight, I'm looking for an out. I practice self-defense which for me anyway is no further than 15 feet away. (not yards) I only carry a gun because I can't run anymore.

But I'm a firm believer carry as much ammo as you can reasonably carry because you may not be close to home to restock. I'm a walker, always have been and now even more so because of health issues. I always have my custom backpack with me (doubles as my grocery bag as well) I still have good upper body strength and load that bag with 50 lbs of groceries if need be, I'll feel it in my legs but it's no problem carrying it.

Suffice to say, I got 50 + rounds of reload on my person and in my bag every time I leave the shack. That's roughly in my mixed calibers not even 3 lbs. That's a walk in the park for me, noone ever complains about having to much ammo.

Carry on..

I usually carry a Shield 9 with a spare mag about 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time I carry a Sig P320 Carry in 9mm with a spare mag.

I have other handguns, but they've become mainly range toys and "strategically placed" home defense weapons.

While you make some valid points I must agree to disagree on a few.

My brand new Shield had 3 mags failure to feed on the first range trip due to the garbage “collapse” springs SW used (which has now been remedied).

In terms of mag malfunction, I can attest to that from experience. With that said, I’ve put 500 rds both SD and Target ammo through a single MP9 FS mag and the likelihood of my primary well tested mag failing is fairly low, I have the utmost confidence in my MP9 FS and primary mag. In a real SD situation, stress and duress, where both parties are exchanging fire a mag change whether it’s out of ammo or failure is going to give the other party a huge advantage and opportunity to return fire. Anyone using untested mags is asking for trouble.

Carrying an extra 17 rd mag is another option that will undoubtedly be an inconvenient for me. With keys, wallet, phones, a Fuill Size pistol, and various other items, an extra mag just adds to the clutter and comfort issues.

Sounds like you got a dud Glock…but you did the right thing by testing it and finding what you’re comfortable with in terms of reliability.

“Spray and pray” has a useful function. The more rounds you have, the more you can spray to get to cover or retreat. More rounds, more chances to hit target (even if it’s simple luck) simple statistic.

I can hit a 3” splatter target from 25 yards fairly easily with my MP9 with crimson trace green laser (cheating I know) but I’m just more comfortable with the 1 gun, 1 high round well tested mag approach. When I’m at home, in the can, doing yard work, checking my home before bed, or doing anything, my M&P9 FS is always with me (without extra mag) and I have no reservation that if need be, it’ll do its job. I love my MP9 Full Size and primary mag and trust it with my life.

However, on long trips I carry extra mags and extra firearms with me in my vehicle.

My next purchase will be a M&P15 Sport II AR15 which will also be close by.

Carry on..

My carry guns have progressively gotten smaller over the years. For a long time, I carried the SW99-40. My friend convinced me the G26 was the end all because of all of the magazines would fit, from a 10rd up to the 50rd drum, so I bought a G26 Gen2. Carried it for over two years and swore I would never get another CCW. Then, on a whim, bought a lil' G42. You can carry that all day long and forget its on your hip. Shortly thereafter, my good friend convinced me to shoot his M&P Shield. Hmmm, I like it! I bought it from him, cause he was moving into a G43 and I have to say, the Shield is the ****! Slim, light weight, easily concealable. I still carry the G42, but for the most part, my Mon.-Fri. CCW is the Shield.

I carried a Glock 26 for a few years but now I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II .45 acp and I just bought a new M&P Shield 9mm to carry when I don't feel like carrying the heavy lead.

My primary CCW to-date has been a Glock 30SF. However, once I gain a little more confidence in my new Shield 45 it will be inserted in to rotation.

I can't argue with this, but revolvers have failure modes, too. And when they do fail, you're most likely out of the fight permanently. I'll admit, though, the reliability advantage probably goes to the revolver.

Wow! you must have gotten a real dud of a Glock. I have about 1000 rounds through my FS9, and I've experienced one failure, and I attribute it to cheap ammo. I shoot IDPA, and I intentionally use cheap ammo in hopes that I will get an opportunity every once in a while to clear a jam under stress. So far, my M&P has not cooperated in giving me any of this type practice. It's been flawless in every one of the 7 matches I've shot.

Jerry! Jerry Miculek, I didn't know that you were on this forum.

If you can reload a revolver as quickly as you can a semi-auto, you are either a revolver prodigy (like Jerry), or you're really slow with a semi-auto. In IDPA matches, every once in a while, someone will shoot a revolver, and in every case I've seen so far, they are MUCH slower with the revolver, and this includes one guy who shoots Master class. I'm in Marksman class, which is 3 classes below Master, and I can do reloads faster with my semi-auto than the Master shooter can with his revolver. When he shoots his semi-auto, he's faster then I am. So while YOU may be as fast with a revolver, most people will not be. Most people will be much, much slower.

You should probably do a bit more research on that real world thing. Quite often, BG's take lethal hits, but they won't cooperate in dying for another minute or two. During which time they continue to fight and shoot back. If your gun is empty, you become much less likely to survive the firefight.

Given the recent popularity of protest marches and riots, I'm working on increasing the firepower I carry around with me. I would feel WAY undergunned with a six shooter.

After my last outing with a revolver, I found that my fond recollections of revolver shooting were apparently filtered through rose colored glasses. The recoil was sharp and painful. Follow up shots were much slower than with my FS9. I guess I've gotten spoiled by the recoil characteristics of semi-autos. I'm glad I got the chance to shoot the revolver, though. It cured me of wanting to get another one.

So you feel you need to have 50 rounds at your disposal, and a gun that only holds 6 at a time. Okaaay. That's a bit of a strange arrangement.

BTW, I carry a Kel-Tec P11, and I'm looking to get a workable holster setup for my FS9, at which point, I hope it will become my EDC.

I'm just the opposite recoil for me is more manageable with a revolver. And so I feel more confident. That's probably 50% of the battle right there feeling confident with your platform.
I'm surprised you would carry a Kel-Tec though. Must be cause it's cheap uh.

And by the way what a 50 + round carry it is. You'll need spray and pray with what caliber you are shooting.
Apparently the FBI thinks the same way as they just switch over to Glock 17's. Back up-mags will probably be 33 rounders.

Of course those are the office jockey's anyone making felony arrest is coming armed for bear.

What ever you like go for it.

We all know that with a revolver you only really need one bullet. Hearing how people talk about semi autos and spray and pray I figured they must hit their target exactly where aiming each and every time with a revolver. Even on a two way range

Depending on what time of year it is
my usual EDC is a Shield 9 in a StealthGear Onyx IWB holster.
Fall/Winter I tend to go OWB (again StealthGear FLEX) with the Shield,
but I also have an M&P 9C that I carry in a N82 pro IWB or a JM Kustom Kydex v2 OWB and
a Springfield Armory XDM 3.8 .45 that I also carry in a Flex OWB.
I'm in Mass so ten rounds is the limit, so I always carry an extra mag.
When I'm off into the Woods the XDM is what I carry, otherwise it's my HD piece.
I wish .45 was cheaper the XDM is a joy to shoot at the range.

Can't argue with that.

Actually... yep. At the time, I didn't have a lot of money to drop into an EDC weapon. It has a good form factor for a capacity of 10+1. It wasn't reliable out of the box, but I've tweaked on it enough that it's reliable now. I wouldn't buy another one, and I'm looking to replace it. But I have to say, it is very concealable for having a 10 round capacity.

Of course, you know that it's been shown that placement is far more important than caliber or muzzle energy. Right now, I'm more accurate with my FS9 than any other gun I own, except my target .22.

LCR 357 carried with 38+P. Haven't really carried any other of my guns for cc since I got this LCR. It fits into about any front pocket and doesn't feel like I am carrying a rock around with me.

...and the smaller the caliber the more accurate you have to be. But make no mistake the average FBI or cop on the street is no more accurate than you are.
More people have been killed with a .22 than any other caliber.
The stats are out there to prove that in fact. (however I'd say it was more luck hitting a vital than accuracy)

I really like the .380 caliber and with the new ammo technology available today it's become a viable carry round, problem is I'm a terrible shot. Hitting an arm or leg might not stop the threat long enough to make it to safety and if they are jacked up on drugs that changes everything as well.

If it was legal my preferred carry would be a sawed-off shotgun.

I seldom carry full size, because they are BIG! lol. They do make nice house guns, and Zombie stoppers. Springfield, Ruger, S&W, Berettta, Taurus, and a couple others round out here.

In my normal carry rotation there exists:

Taurus PT111G2, 9mm, because it carries lots of bullets, and is the most comfortable gun to carry. In my belt, it is invisible to me! A stainless steel double stack for $200. A great gun for the price.

Taurus PT738 TCP, .380 - my normal BUG, and utilized when deep carry is desired. Really easy to hide, and always goes bang when I want it to! Stainless for low maintenance and high corrosion resistance, since it is always in high humidity.

S&W M&P 9c, because its size and capacity are comforting, and easily concealed, partly because of the abbreviated grip.

Ruger RAP 9 Compact, because I love it's looks, and it's a good shooter. Also carries lots of bullets, but it's edges make it uncomfortable to carry IWB. It's also heavy, but I love it!

Taurus PT709, 9mm, because it is slightly easier to conceal than a double stack. Great price for a good gun. Again, a little more comfortable IWB than others.

S&W M&P Shield 9mm 2.0, for the same reason as the 709, plus I got the integrated Crimson Trace laser for the same price as a non laser, even on sale! It's really a nice gun for it's size. Nice price.

S&W M&P9 Compact, 3.6", M2.0, because I like it a lot. Nicer than the 9c in lots of ways, similar in lots of ways, different in others. Like the longer grip, sometimes dislike it if it shows. Great trigger, lots of bullets, great price at 349 delivered!

Originally, I carried an Iver Johnson mini 1911, .380! Switched to a single stack 9 with an extra mag or two. And went to double stack for the increased capacity without carrying any extra mags - much more convenient. Right! Over time, I started carrying an extra mag or two of double stacks in my off side pocket. Now, usually, I have a full box of 9mm on my person. lol, so much for convenience!

I carry mostly 115gr hollow points of different manufacture in the 9s, except the lil .380 sees nothing but Federal 95gr HSTs.

Yes, I do carry them all concealed, just not at the same time. None of these guns have ever failed me, except when using that funky Sig ammo.

What gets carried the most? The Taurus PT111, and any of the S&Ws. I really like the M&P line. If they get that lite strike problem fixed, I might add a BG!

Different guns for different circumstances - ain't it wonderful to have choices!

95% of the time, I carry either a Smith & Wesson 3953 or a Walther PPS40. I am more apt to take one of my full-sized Smiths or other S&W compacts or CS40s for a walk-about in the winter months.

To get the new M&P9 Compact 2.0, it was a replacement for a Beretta I just recently sold - net increase in guns = 0, net increase in $, significant.

I don't have anywhere near as many guns as I had 10-15 years ago, so I could even say I have been saving money...... That's what I tell my wife, anyhow!

I still have a wish list, but it still leaves me well below what I had even 5 years ago.

Another friend and I talk about how neither our kids or grand kids will have to buy guns when we buy the farm soon. lol

And, I still have money in my gun fund!

was a glock fan boy for a long time,.still have one but traded the others in on a couple of xds' and a 2.0 compact and a 2.0 shield both in 9mm.especially love the xds in .45.the grip texture is outstanding as it is on both the 2.0s
