Few days back I posted my new S&W Shield .45 but didn't mention its mags were impossible to load with my 92 year old hands ---- So I made this little tool that makes it easy. I sent info to S&W in certified mail with suggestion they consider including one with each gun and/or make them available. Pix below should enable most folks to make their own ----


I thinned the extractor curvature a little to better fit he head groove. It needs a little help on the muzzle end to balance its extractor down thrust. Same design would work on other mags & calibers with minor rework.

If steel strength is a problem, I have found a ready source in old carbon steel kitchen knives, old carpenter saws. You heat it red & let cool to soften it to saw & file. To return to spring temper, heat red & quench in water to make glass hard & brittle, then put in in a teaspoonfull of motor oil & burn it off or put it in your wife's oven & heat to 560 degrees or till it turns blue.

Apply for a patent.

It's simple Gizmos like this that sell.
If you don't do something with this design, someone else will and when some member posts about the great new tool they found on Amazon, you'll be posting something like "I came up with this a couple Years ago".

OK, so to recap.....
He developed an idea for a tool.
He was able to design and machine it to his needs.
He developed it based on a need for his brand new handgun.
He was able to take pics, title them, upload, etc... and provide instructions for finishing.
He states he is 92 years old.

I think I have a new hero! Seriously, I fear that the current generation will produce far fewer people like this. My hat is off to you, sir.

9mm Shield

Considering that this simply slips over the rear wall and fits into the Shield45, if this were narrow enough to also fit into the rear of the Shield9/40, I see no reason why this wouldn't work with ANY stagger-stack mag.

If it did work with the Shield9, this could be the next UpLula.

Great idea. I was surprised s&w does not make a speed loader for m&p's.
