Default Shield Apex Trigger

Hello, I just order my wife an Apex #100-151 from Midway and installed it on my wife's Smith and Wesson Shield, 9mm and went by the two videos that I watched on YouTube and it was not hard at all. I work on guns a lot so it is not that I do not have experience with working on guns but after installing it, I was real disappointed in the end results of the trigger function. There is not much different in the way it works as it does with the factory trigger set up. The pull is real long and not as soft as I thought it should be. My wife tried it and says that she cannot tell any different than it was to start with. She said if anything, it is a little harder to pull. Also, there is no reset with you let go of the trigger. Does this sound like I have done something wrong

I just installed duty carry kit with the aluminum trigger on my shield this weekend and certainly there is an improvement, my trigger pull now is just under 6lb before was close to 8lb. (I left the stock springs, except the striker block spring). Polished the trigger bar and striker block. I felt the difference almost instantly.

Now the duty carry kit won't short the travel or reset those features remain factory, only the fss kit does that but it is not available for the shield. Make sure there is no grittiness on the trigger and the striker block is depressed easily.

I appreciate you telling me that. The trigger is not gritty but the pull is longer than I thought it was going to be and the trigger seems harder to pull then the factory one was. Is there not anyway to make the trigger easier to pull and a shorter pull? I know everybody else says the new one is daylight to dark difference than the factory one but I just cannot see it. I shot a Springfield XDM match in a 9mm and it has had some springs changed in it and my wife was hoping it would be like that so needless to say, she is real disappointed in this.

I forgot to mention that my wife's is the one that has no safety and the ones that they are doing on youtube has the safety. Would there be any difference there and also, does bending the little loop in or out, that has something to do with the timing, make any difference

Use the factory trigger return spring, that will lighten the trigger pull. Also, install one of their triggers. I did on my 9c and it reduced the pre travel by about 30%. BTW, I stalled the duty carry kits in both our 9c's and this is the set up I have with them. Truthfully the trigger pull on my 9c is prob. too light at this point, one of these days I will put the Apex trigger return spring in and make is heavier (it is currently around if not below 3 lbs.). I don't worry about the trigger pull being too light too much since it is now the home defense gun. It was too heavy for me for carrying, so I now carry a Sig 938.
BTW, I don't worry about the light trigger on the 9c as I am used to a 2-2.5 lbs. trigger on the competition M&P's.

the duty carry kit comes with a stiffer trigger return spring. I found that through apex when did the duty carry on my 45c, if you want a lighter trigger pull just leave the factory trigger return spring. Sometimes the trigger bar loop needs to be adjusted after the install (look at the youtube video).

Thanks, I will put the factory trigger spring back in. Does anybody know what happens when adjust the timing and which way the loop needs to go. Does it need to be opened up more or closed more. I am unsure what they are meaning by this

Usually the loop needs to be opened more so it engages the sears, but if you opened too much it affects the reset too. watch the video a couple of times it is well explained. I had to adjust mine I was having a long pull and no bang, so I opened the loop just a tad and it worked fine after that.
