New Shield 45 Grip texture
Hey everyone, was just dropping in to ask if anyone else finds the new texture of the Shield 45 grips pretty darn aggressive, almost to much so. I conceal carried it the other day for the first time all day long and it is very comfortable to carry all day weight and size wise, but the one thing that is bothersome is how aggressive the grip texture is, it literally rubbed my skin to the point it was hurting by the end of the day. I'm not into putting rubber sleeves over grips or adding stick on textures either. So my cure was to lightly sand/file down the grip texture by hand just on the sides and back of the grips very evenly and take my time doing it. For anyone who has had this problem, this fixed mine beautifully. My grips are perfect now, they still feel good with enough texture for a good grip and they do not rub my skin raw now either, so anyone wanting to fix this issue if there having it, this is the way without adding anything to your grips. It looks good if you take your time and do it slow and easy and make sure its even of course. Just some info. Thanks guys.

My soft girly skin can't take it all day everyday LOL!! with how aggressive these grips are on this gun, and I hate slip on sleeves or stick on grips. I like the original grip of the gun, just not overly aggressive rubbing your skin off LOL!! It solved my problem now its very comfortable against my soft beautiful skin lol!!

N82 holsters protect against that.

I've had no problems with the grip texture at all so far. But I always wear a tee shirt between me and whatever I'm carrying. Been wearing tee shirts daily since the days long ago when they became Army issue and part of the uniform. Continued during all the years I wore an LEO uniform. These days, I like the Duluth Buck Naked tee shirts, especially during summertime heat. They do not hold moisture like cotton and they are not too hot. They are very comfortable for me! And I very much like the grip texture of the Shield .45. (And, I also tend to have a bit of dunlap hanging out over my belt line as well!)
But I also think earthtone's solution to the problem for him. If the body side of my grip starts to shred my tee shirt, that's exactly what I intend to do. Shouldn't take much sanding to take the sharp tops off the textured grip to take care of that problem. But for me, so far, unless my love handle or tee shirt begins to suffer, I'm good!

I definitely had that same problem.....so I did in fact add 2 layers of bike tire inner tube.....one was okay but with the second it also fixed the problem of a still too thin grip..
Fills my hand much better now, helps the gun point better and recover quicker..

I put talons on mine. The rubber ones. Not crazy about them. I normally use the grit ones, but took a chance with these, I also feel the grip is a bit too thin. A small palm swell would have been perfect for me.
The stock grip is too agressive in my opinion.

Using the Crossbreed holster I had for my 9mm Shield. Fits great, and I don't notice the grip texture........even though it extends past the leather.

I do have soft girly hands and put Talons grips on mine. The texture was rough while shooting but not unbearable. The main reason I put Talons on mine was for conceal carry since I don't double shirt.

I don't like any slip on grips or stick on grips. I like the original grip of the gun so what I did fixed it permanently and very well and it still looks good if you just take your time on it. I have the new Desantis Leather Scabbard Thumb Break for the Shield 45. I like those holsters alot. And I don't like to wear a tshirt between my other shirts just to carry comfortably either. I put my gun on my belt and put a tshirt on and cover it with it owb. I hate iwb carry. So my above post on this issue has fixed it for how I carry and what I wear.

Good job, Sir! Each of us has to figure out what works best for us. That's usually somewhat of a work in progress, but those who have found a good solution to make things work smoothly and well (and comfortable too!) are way ahead of the game. It takes some time, usually, to get to that point, but it's a great place to be! Good for you!
