Default Shield problem?

The slide on my new 9mm Shield does not want to seat fully. I have to give it a tap for it to seat fully. It doesn't matter if the magazine is in or not. Perhaps a little oil will fix the issue. Anyone else have this issue?

So, if you pull the slide all the way back and let go so that the spring slams it forward, it still will not close completely?

Yes. I had to give it a little tap to get it to seat fully forward. I've cleaned and oiled it. That seems to be helping. Will continue to monitor

What about when you shoot it? Does the same thing happen then? If the slide won't fully close when you release it, and especially when you fire it, I'd send it back to S&W. I don't think it's a lubrication issue. You should not need excessive oil for it to close. I only put a small amount of oil on mine and it is fine.

It seemed to function properly when fired. I used only a light amount of CLP on a Q-tip.

Wait, you pull the slide fully to the rear and let it go (without riding it) and it doesn't fully close? Even without a mag or cartridges?
