Default M&P Bodyguard 380 Problems

Bottom line up-front: I have had four Crimson Trace lasers fail on my Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard 380.
Background: I bought the pistol during December 2014. After the first magazine of six shots the laser stopped working properly. When I say it stopped working properly I mean the right hand activation button no longer cycled the laser from off-to steady-to strobe-to off again. The left hand button worked fine. Failure number one.
I called Smith Customer Service and they sent me a replacement laser and a couple spare red activation buttons because the right side one fell out of the pistol. I promptly installed the replacement laser and button and the EXACT same thing happened again after six shots. Failure number two.
Same call to Smith with another laser sent out and installed. This one was much better as it lasted seventy-six shots before it failed. Failure number three.
Another call to Smith and I spoke with a lady named “Kate” who I assume is a supervisor in customer service. Kate said there must be something wrong with the pistol as the Crimson Trace lasers had been very reliable and she asked that I return it to Smith so they could check it over. The pistol was returned to them during February 2015 and returned shortly thereafter. The work order only listed the parts they replaced (the laser among them) but didn’t explain what they had found wrong with the pistol. Well, two nights ago the laser that Smith installed failed in the exact same manner as the first three. Failure number four.
I spoke with Kate again today and she offered to send ANOTHER laser with no other offers of assistance. Her contention is that the Crimson Trace lasers have been very reliable and it must be something I’m doing to cause the failures. What I could be doing to cause the failures is beyond me as all you do is push the little red button…and expect the laser to work!
Question: Before I bought the pistol I read that the Insight lasers were horrible and that’s why the switch was made to Crimson Trace. So my question is has anyone else had a similar experience with their pistol and laser or is my experience truly an isolated incident?

I'm can't answer your question for I have no experience with the Factory S/W Crimson Trace.

Just want to chime in and say I purchased my BG without laser and installed the Crimson LG 454. It is activated by my middle finger on the grip. Only way to go. Absolutely love it. More money in the short run but well worth it in the long run.

I guess I'm the anomaly and need to review the TTPs for button pushing!

I have an older BG, with the Insight laser. Never had a problem. I personally think they're a waste, myself. Who knows though. Maybe I'll have a situation where it comes in handy.

I never had much use for them either until my eyes began getting worse and worse with age. It's easy enough to use prescription glasses at the range to allow a good sight alignment but when you're faced with a "gotta shoot now" situation I may not have the glasses on that allow me to focus on that front sight...
