Default M&P22 full Size Safety

I was so happy with my new M&P22 Full size but the happiness did not last too long due to the fact that I discovered two problems with my gun.

Firstly the safety is mushy and there is no positive click when selecting the safety on or off at all unlike on the on the M&P22 Compact's and Full size pistols that work correctly.

Secondly, inside the end of the barrell where the bullet exits the barrell there is a burr on the lands that is causing the bullets to catch(Scrape) and make a copper streak in this spot inside my barrell.
I also notice that it is no where else in the barrell.

I do not know how the heck I am going to solve this problem other than trying to use a local gunsmith which I don'y particularly fancy as my warranty will be null and void.

I am not able to send the pistol to Smiith and Wesson as it will take months or even years to get the export permits and then again the import permits back here again.I really do not know what to do.

From there it would probably need to go back to Germany where it was made by Walther, then back to the USA and then all the red tape to get it back home to South Africa again.

It is really a bummer and to add insult to injury I am in South Africa and hence can not just take the gun in for repairs as there is no Smith and Wesson here besides the gun dealers who don't particularly care.

What if it needs spares too,how will I get them if I need them and from who,Germany or the USA???

I am so dissapointed and mad as I wanted to purchase a new M&P Shield too next week but now I don't think it will happen anymore.

How can a new gun pass through QC without anyone checking the basic working parts such as safety, slide and trigger.

I feel like handing this new gun in for destruction as it will possibly be less painfull than having it repaired who know's when.

I guess Smith and Wesson's lifetime warranty only really applies to those who have access to repair centre's and are actually able to make use of it unlike myself stuck thousands of miles away in Africa.

Rant off!! but still as unhappy as hell!!!

Maybe just contact S&W first and see what they say?

I am not able to contact Smith and Wesson directly via electronic -mail as it only allows USA citizens to select a State and submit the mail from within the state you live in.

With me it does not recognise International customers and we are forwarded to the local agents who have never before actually worked on a M&P22 or know wuch about the gun.
I will not hand my gun over to a non authorised Smith and Wesson gunsmith either.

Anybody have a contact e-mail address for someone senior who could possibly acknowledge my complaint or at least listen to it.

To add to my woes I discover the slide beeing scratched inside by something internally. At first It looked like a crack which it still might be as I am no gunsmith at all.

My full size 22 came with a spent casing from the factory. See if yours is marred from the burr. That will tell you if it left the manufacturer like that.

As far as the safety, I am not a fan and took mine out and filled the holes with plugs a forum member was making with a 3D printer. Not sure if he is still making them or not. I would like to do the same to my compact 22.

It seems as if things are not looking up for me as a friend of mine had a look at the mark/crack at the bottom of the slide through a magnifying lens and seems to agree that it is a crack forming.

The really sad thing is that I have not even had the chance to experience some decent fun with my new gun yet.
I just registered the gun a couple of weeks ago after receiving my licence to posses this firearm.

The process of having it sorted out seems to be an even bigger challenge due to myself not residing in the USA.

If being able to contact and inform Smith & Wesson of my problem successfully is anything to go by then it seems as if the process of having my gun sorted and the problem resolved is going to be a long and frusstrating process and excercise because of myself not residing the USA.

I really wish these things were not so tedious as it drives me up the creek.

Did you buy the M&P 22 from a dealer? If so, have you discussed your problems with the dealer?
