After many months of himming and hawing - I finally bought my M&P Compact .22 today. I didn't get exactly what I wanted - because the FFL who took my BG .380 on trade only offered the suppressor-ready version.
So ... I brought it home and thought all I had to do was remove the thread protector to remove the slide and clean it ...
So - now the dumber question - it looks like I could make it into a regular version by removing the thread adapter. And, I did a search here and found out something I didn't know. It looks like (I haven't tried it yet) the thread adapter will be a bear to remove.
I checked Midway, thinking they might sell a thread adapter which converts my version back to the regular version - but no such animal is listed. I have looked at the regular version in a couple of stores and it looks like they have a thread adapter on them too. I wish I had known about the very difficult to remove thread adapter before I traded my BG.
Am I toast - I can't ever break it down and remove the slide? And, there is no adapter to convert mine back to regular style? Thanks!!
Added: after posting this - I decided to try the wrench on the thread adapter. It was more than pickle-jar ...
... tight - but it did come loose. The wrench fits very tight and seems to be reasonably well made.
