Default New Performance Center 9L Ported, Hi Vis Question..

Got myself the above mentioned pistol a few days ago and absolutely love it. I have a few handguns including a S&W gen 3, 915 and a bg380, a 22a, etc but this one is different.

First, the fiber optic sights allow getting on target quicker than any of my other guns and this thing is really accurate.

At 10 yards, I was putting round after round in a 2 inch pattern, dead center on a paper target before backing up and moving to metal targets. Started at 25 yards and began backing out to 40 yards and consistently pinging "bowling pin" shaped targets and smaller than pie shaped round targets. This is a personal best for me! Never had a pistol that I could consistently hit a small target at 40 yards.

Now the question.....

I ran 150 blazer brass 115gr down the tube and had two failures of the slide to stay back on an empty mag and one failure to feed which got hung up but was easily cleared by racking the slide.

Hopefully the slide not staying back is just new gun stuff......what does the jury say? Any need for concern yet?

I've noticed mine is a little ammo sensitive. I had some ammo that was a bit to long and gave me all kinds of problems. The same ammo would run non-stop in my XDM. I'd try another brand of ammo and see if you still have issues.

Yeah, I will. The blazer was all I had with me yesterday and my 915 and Taurus PT111 eat it with no issues at all.

The first time the slide didn't stay back, I thought nothing of it but the second time......made me think uh oh....

I have a lot of the blazer brass which I bought in bulk because my other guns like it.

Might be new gun (stiff) stuff. I doubt it has anything to do with ammo (unless it is so weak that it won't cause the slide to go all the way to the rear, not real likely with "store bought" ammo). The slide lock is activated by the magazine follower. Smith had a problem with this early on in the life of the M&P but redesigned the follower years ago. Another possibility is that you're inadvertently riding the slide lock with your thumb which would cause the slide not to lock back. Make a conscious effort to place your thumb under the slide lock and see if the problem persists.

That is a good thought. Will do.

I shoot right handed with my left hand low on the gun so I don't think I was hitting the slide lock but I will pay more attention to that to cross it off the list.
