My new 2.0, I had to have it!
When I got the S&W email release of the 2.0 I told my wife I was buying the first FDE version I saw. Well, I saw one Thursday night and it came home with me. Friday brought us a snow and sleet storm (rare for Mississippi) so no range time. I did load 2 clips and opened the back door and let 'em go. The trigger is noticeably better than my 1.0. (5 minutes after I shot those 2 clips my neighbor killed a 6 point in his backyard) The stippling on the grip is very "pronounced" but I like it.
I like it and may sell the 1.0 now.

What is the small button in front of the slide lock? Is it a slide "release"?

S&W customer service told me they are cosmetic, but the serial number is in the ones on the right side.

Very nice! As far as the port holes by the rail, according to a review I just read they are to reduce weight. Seems like a stretch to me but that is what the review said.......

My one question is with the serial number moved, have the moved the right side slide release farther rear to line up with the left side one? The reach of the old slide release is horrible for lefties with smaller hands.

I was able to shoot a 9mm in 4.25" barrel. Great trigger, love the grip. Now I have not shot the 1.0 to compare.

My unsupported theory is that they are attachment points for a future Crimson Trace product. (S&W now owns Crimson Trace.)

I think they are there just so you can see the new metal skeleton the polymer covers, it adds style to it imo

I shot it a little more today, ab out 80 rds. I had one FTF and it was stuck down in the mag. I disassembled the mag and found a casting sprue still on the follower. I sanded it off and no more FTF.
I did notice something on the spent brass. There seems to be a small indention next to the firing pin strike. I can't see the firing pin and I do not want to disassemble to get to the fp.
Whatcha think?

Found it at Academy, $519. I could have ordered one but my FFL fee and shipping would have made it close plus I like purchasing a gun and taking it with me. And my sweet bride paid for it anyway with some of her Christmas money.

Yes, I live in the "sticks" and I love it. I lived in New Orleans for a long time and was glad to get out (except for the seafood).

That's what I was thinking... when will we see compact 2.0?

Picked mine up for a little over $400 the other day. Haven't noticed the primer dents like yours.

Nice choice! I typically don't care for FDE, but the slide on the new 2.0 has a bronze tone that compliments the FDE frame nicely. Also, 5" model all the way!

I handled an identical pistol at my favorite shop yesterday. Very nice, with a better trigger than the original version. Also checked out the new M&P Shield 45 with the stippled grip and must say I am going to buy one after I get my finances in better shape!

Can you tell me if the recoil spring assembly appears to be the same as the 1.0 version?

The 5" FDE is on my 2017 list! Probably gonna wait for version 2.1 though. I hate being a Guinea pig.

Bought my M2.0 FDE last week from Grabagun.com. Haven't gotten to range with it yet, but on the "must do" list for this weekend.

It was hard not to jump in that deal. Bit I think I did 7 in 30 days. I'm temporarily broke.

The recoil assembly appears to be the same at the 1.0. Blue paint around the end.
I got a FS 9mm for $440 shipped from Whittaker Guns.

Mine came in late this afternoon. I wanted to go watch my granddaughter's basketball game more than I wanted to shoot the new M2.0. I got the 5" FDE in 9 mm. I've got nine mags loaded because that's all I have right now. Yes, the older M1 mags fit. I'm gonna break it in a little in the morning even though Jr. fired a box through it while I was at the game. There are none in the stores around here. I found one on line for $450+$20 shipping. My FFL doesn't charge for transfer because I send him a lot of business.

I was a transplant living in Nola until Katrina came. Used that as the excuse to get the heck out and now live in Arizona.
Just handled a 2.0 a couple of days ago. It will be home with me very soon.
