Thumbs down Found 9mm Shield barrells!!!!!!!

Found out that the Silencer shop has M&P Shield 9mm barrels for sale. Check out their web site . Only problem they are 299.00

They are threaded and that must be why they are charging so much. the 30 seconds it takes to thread the barrels must really add up .

It is a free world and they charge what ever they want but I will be sure to not spend my money with them .http://smith-wessonforum.com/images/icons/icon13.gif

Sure seems someone could sell a bunch of them if they were available unthreaded and reasonably priced. I'd like an unported barrel for my PC.

Until the recent ITAR regulations requiring gunsmiths who do work like threading barrels register and pay a $2500 per year fee as well as be monitored and regulated by the government I think there are charges well beyond the labor and tooling and time to thread barrels.

Government regulation and liability is driving these costs.

First I would like to say Hello to everyone I'm new to the forum..

I bit the bullet and purchased a threaded barrel from SilencerShop.. I am happy with the purchase I was waiting on Blacklist Industries since they were slightly cheaper and they also have the non-threaded option but they are still on preorder only and I'm pretty impatient at times. $299 Is a bit pricey but I have no complaints the barrel is accurate an good quality I'm satisfied.. Just my 2 Cents

I attached 2 photos for reference one with a muzzle brake..

Seems a little extreme (the price). Would rather spend that money on another gun. Seems like it is buying a $50k car and deciding to buy a new engine for $40k, but hey...it is not my money so go for it

Generally a 9mm chamber face cannot accommodate the wider .40. That's why you don't see very many, if any 9-40 conversions. It would require you to mill out the slide or completely swap it. The other way round (9 in a .40) works because the 9mm easily fits on a .40 chamber face with room to spare.

Agreed, for $120 I could just buy a Shield 9mm. Not a practical solution. Shoot, sell your .40 shield for a paltry $200, buy a 9mm version if thats what you wanted and you're still ahead.

U buy a 9mm barrel for a 40 so you can shoot either ammo, IE the 9 mm for much less per box and you shoot a 40 because you can and want to.. U buy the 40 first so you can have either firearm for much less the cost & why would anyone in their right mind want to sell the 40 at such a loss when it is a great short range self defense firearm.. U change these barrels out in a matter of a couple minutes or less and U are defending yourself statistically within 5 yards or much less. I will get the 357 sig barrel for the 40 if S&W eventually makes one as I also have that ammo and I shoot it also in a Glock 40 conversion.

In a full size, I see it. As I have all 3 barrels for my FS40. In the Shield.. meh. Get the one caliber you intend to use it for and be done. When I go outside shooting, the Shield is not the one I'm taking for fun.

I have the Compact in 40 with the 9mm and 357 barrel's but never liked the Shield .. was never comfortable for me to shoot even in 9 mm .. with the back straps the Compact has it is much more comfortable as it fits ones hand better .. and is fun to shoot ..

The Shield was never fun to shoot and I tried 3 different ones before going with the Compact .. I use the large back strap and that may be the reason I dislike the smaller gripped Shield my hand just doesn't fit it well ..

U got the wrong idea about ccp/ccw an what that means with whatever ammo u got in whatever those circumstances mean to you. It definately isnt about fun to shoot.

Not exactly true at all. Years ago several members made the 40 barrel fit in their 9mm frame and slide. They drimmeled the small tangs down on the 40 barrel. Those tamgs are the reason the 40 slide is a little wider where the barrel fits. So it can be done easily if someone wants to do it. THe other way 40 to 9mm is just drop in, basically. No drimel or grinding needed.

Many moons ago, i discovered the .40 to 9mm swap for the world to see. Several of us members still have our factory 9mm barrels that we use in our .40 for plinking. You can do a search on this forum and find all the info from years ago when this was first discovered.

I love my 357 sig in my 40 sig for spot on target gong shooting. Hope Shield does it.
