Default M&P M2.0

Anyone know about or have any leaked info or pictures of S&W's new pistol? Something about an improved trigger. SS- Rumor Mill - Smith & Wesson M2.0 Found In Trademark Filings - Soldier Systems Daily

All I see is my newly bought M&Ps 1.0 decreasing in value by approximately 50-60%. But seriously why do a 2.0? They have the trigger mechanisms in place. Just do them like apex!

This is why it's called the rumor mill, you can't trust it.

Patience is a virtue. If there's anything to be seen, I'm sure it will be seen at Shot in January.

That is possibly an offshoot of the Smith and Wesson and General Dynamics attempt to win the Army Modular Handgun System contract.

Academy just posted the photos here is the Brown version with five inch barrel and the Black version, the black one comes with thumb safety and without but has a shorter barrel.

Glad I have held off on adding a 4.25" M&P to my collection. Looking at the 2.0 I am not a huge fan of the aggressive looking texture, but the interchangeable palmswells in addition to the backstraps (similar to the VP9) looks like a very nice addition. Mag capacity is listed as 17 for a 9mm, which makes me hopefull about compatibility with older mags. If they are compatible with original mags I will definitely be picking up a 2.0 when they hit the shelves.

I just bought a FS Gen I M&P 9 this morning to add to my Shield 9 so I won't be getting the new model anytime soon. I'm envious !

Still no 2.0 on the S&W site. I wonder what's different?

Surely it is not going to be an Academy exclusive like the all black SD 9 that doesn't show on the S&W website either.

I wonder how good the m2 trigger is. I'm happy that s&w upgraded the m&p. I'm mad that due to the election I recently bought some M&Ps and fully outfitted them with apex triggers. Any news on accuracy fixes?

Wonder what the cutouts in the dust cover are for, maybe attachment points for the full length rail? Interesting machining at the rear of the ejection port too. These things look "production" rather than one off custom work.

Any word on if it takes the legacy M&P magazines? Hope so, as those mags worked great, no reason I know of to change them.

Wouldn't mind adding one of those tan M2s in .40 S&W to my collection.

I am just hoping that mags and holsters are backward compatible or Smith and Wesson will have made a huge mistake that will probably adversely affect sales to 1.0 owners!

Armonite is the same finish on the M&P 15 sport II and the BG .380 and the Shield 45
Oh heck it's just their name for their nitride finish that's not new at all.

Yes, it's what used to be called Melonite, but for some reason they can't use that name anymore. It's the same as Tennifer on Glocks.

I miss the beavertail, but I think the new texture is nice. Never understood the texture below the trigger guard and I'm glad it's gone. It looks more like the SD9 now that the beavertail is gone.

If the trigger is like my 45 shield, they'll have a winner.

The only thing I like about it is the grip texture, looks like the shaved some weight from the slide.

I notice this morning that the 2.0 has disappeared from the Academy website.

It's not awful, but the styling is kind of "busy".

I prefer the looks of the old guns.

I'll buy your old M&Ps for 60% under what you paid!! Really, not seeing that much depreciation.

I'll have to admit that I'm not very impressed with the new look... and I guess we'll just have to wait to find out what all those visible changes and do-dads are going to do for us. Keep in mind that I'm an "all-metal" gun kind of guy... so mere cosmetic changes to the plastic molds tend not to impress me.

To be honest, I was hoping for so much more... a major redesign. Regardless, it will be a long time before they are legal for dealers to sell in the People's Republic of Massachusetts. No need to add any of them to the acquisition "Possibilities List" anytime before 2018 at the earliest.

I hope that's actually the case. Often such things are cost cutting measures. The new metal treatment Glock uses is similar to, but inferior to Tenifer.

We were told they decided to get the equipment to start doing the nitriding process in-house, versus sending slides & barrels to a vendor (and paying to use a process with a trademarked name owned by someone else). It also allows them immediate control over the process and QC oversight.

This is the second name I've seen them use since we were told of their decision to start doing their own process. It's something they offer to other gun companies, too, like their forging and heat treat services.

I like the look of it. I also like the fact that they've done away with the beavertail. I wonder how long until they make it up here to Canuckistan. I just picked up a second M&P, a .40 to go with my 9, so I'm okay with a bit of a wait until they arrive.

That's covered in this video

S&W now owns Crimson Trace. Perhaps its an attachment point for a future Crimson Trace product.

I was hoping for a frame size like the 45C across the caliber spectrum. To me, that's the perfect size for an M&P.

I read that the slide is slightly narrower in the 2.0. I'd like to see that.

I'm curious to hold one in person; to feel what the new grip texture is like but mainly to see how the trigger feels as a "2.0" version. I have a '15 full size 9 with its standard trigger and a '16 PC Shield with it's upgraded trigger.
For me i'll be interested to see where this 2.0 trigger falls in between what i already own and am comfortable with (thanks to range time i am good with both, even though they have obvious differences).

if the texture is the same that it comes on the shield 45 IMO is great, I'm curious too about the trigger but I won't buy one just for it, all my guns have apex and I'm very happy with them. Not a fan of the LCI, it looks the box is now black, and new foam insert too.

I like what they've done. Shame I can't get it here.

I'm still not understanding the front of the frame where it looks like a bear bit down real hard on it. I get the steel reinforcement thing but I don't see how it relates to those new holes.
