M&P 9fs or M&P9 2.0
I am interested in a striker fired 9 mm. I am in between the m&p9 and M2.0 9mm. My question is which would you buy?
I have read some old post about horrible accuracy from the M&P 1.0 in 9mm. This was said to be due to everything form dwell time to poor slide/ barrel fit. Has Smith fixed this problem yet?
Does the new redesign address these barrel fit concerns? Does anybody have enough rounds through the new ones(2.0) to report on accuracy?
Also considering a vp9 would that be a better choice?
Thank you for your replies

The M&P 2.0 is just starting to hit the shelf's that I doubt that enough testing has been done to answer all your questions. I love my FS9 it has been proven to be reliable and accurate enough for me to trust it. I would go with already has been proven to work.

I have a full size 9 that is fully stock. I love shooting it, and have had zero issues with the gun or its accuracy and use it as a range toy and for home defense. Even am used to the trigger as is. I also have a new Pc Shield with its improved trigger set up which i really like. In fact i started tossing around the idea of getting the performance center pieces for the full size until i heard about the 2.0.
As the 2.0 seems to have a trigger similar to my PC it is now on my possible purchase list to replace my full size. Likely in the 5" version.
So if i had to make a suggestion, the full size v 1.0 is a very good gun and i am guessing will see some nice sale prices now. If the $$ is ok on the 2.0 then it is worthy of consideration. That said, members here are just getting the new ones so not much for real feedback yet
* edited to add a pic of a 10 yd try with my full size. Now i admit this was the best I've ever done with mine and other times the group loosens up due to my avg eyes and skills lol. My local range is max 10yd so cant speak for longer distances until i play outside this summer. My point is in my avg hands the v1 full size can do pretty well in stock form. I can imagine how well a truly good shooter can do with one.

I've seen some pretty good deals for the m2.0 online. If I were to buy a new M&P today, I'd go for a m2.0 5" model in 9mm. Even though I think the grip texture is too aggressive, I'd take a little sand paper to it and smooth it out a bit.

I trust my 9mm Pro (M1.0 if you will) with my life and I don't see a reason to upgrade or even replace it. If I had to but one today I'd need to put my hands on both to make a decision...

What kind of accuracy do you get at 25'?
Also is that the stock barrel in your pro?

I've had quite a few M&P9's in the last 10 years. The accuracy, build quality and the reliability have been good in all cases.
I have not been able to shoot the new 2.0 but have recently talked to a friend that has purchased one and he is thrilled with it. He has owned a M&P9 and we have shot together with our 1.0's. Both of us have not had any problems with the 1.0 guns.
In discussing his new 2.0 he feels that it does everything better, accuracy ergonomics and especially likes the new grip stippling. I trust his opinion because we both have like interests in guns.
Based on his opinions about the new 2.0 I wouldn't hesitate purchasing the new 2.0 given the choice between the 2. Of coarse I've owned many 1.0's so why would I buy another when there's a upgraded one available.
Based on some of the prices I've seen the 2.0 vs. the 1.0 guns there's very little difference, the 2.0's can be had in the low $400's. I'm in the market for a 2.0 now. Just my 0.02

Having both, I don't think the 2.0 is such a vast improvement that I can categorically recommend it over the 1.0. I'd shop by price and availability, and wouldn't pay more than $20 or $30 for the 2.0 over the 1.0. It may come down to what you think of the 2.0 grip texture and lack of beavertail, and slight difference in weight.

I handled but not fired one of the new 2.0 pistols, I also already have a full size 9mm that was built April of 2013. I bought it used but unfired. I really like the grip treatment of the new gun, yes the reset is a vast improvement but.....overall the trigger, to me at least, still has a long take-up and travel after the release.
My gun has the Talon grip wrap ($17), Ameriglo "i dot" night sights ($125 installed) and the Apex full duty/carry kit with their polymer trigger ($150 installed). So while it's not quite fair to compare completely to the new model I don't see any reason to get one of the new ones-outside of the fact I just want one .
I also have a Shield set-up exactly the same with the exception of using the Apex aluminum trigger. My full size has been 100% reliable since I got it and it's quite accurate-the brand/type of ammo doesn't seem to matter. Same for the Shield, also a 9.
I prefer to buy American when I can, never liked the way the Block fit my hand thought they are also very reliable (at least in the 9s I've owned). I was very happy when S&W brought out the M&P and continue to be so. For this old 1911 guy that's saying something lol.

Good question. I qualify with it and depending on how I feel, weather and my patience I get everything from "okay" to "barely made it."
This weekend I'll go and do some 25yd shooting and measure the groups
Don't have a rest though, it's all free hand standing.
This was at 20yd on an okay day. 5 shot.
The barrel is a StormLake and I only bought it because of the faster twist rate since I mostly shoot 147gr.

Thank you. It's made by Jason Winnie (belt, holster, mag pouch) and I love his stuff
The cuff pouch is made by Aker.
I don't wanna pad myself on the shoulder but I kinda convinced Jason to make the J131 holster (thumb break) for the M&P and I got the first two made (1 black, 1 brown) fresh from the production line
