Default Red Dot Sight

Looking for a group opinion on how to use a red dot sight.

Should we focus on the target and cover it with the red dot or should we focus on the red dot and cover the target?

Finally, does a house burn UP or burn DOWN.

With red dots focus on the target , with traditional sights focus on the front post.

I have a Jpoint 3 MOA sight on my 986 and generally shoot with both eyes open, so aiming is a matter of moving the dot over the target.

Focus on the target and when the dot is in the center fire. You don't have to center the dot, wherever it is you will hit.
