Question Performance Center ported FS 9

Looked at one yesterday at Cabelas and wow, was very tempted. For those of you who own, how do you like them?

great looking gun, also is there a 2.0 version?

I bet there will be a 2.0 version, because some people like porting. It may be a while after other more popular models are delivered into the market.

I like mine a lot. I have installed the Apex trigger kit, and just under 4lbs now. I like the Ergonomics and how I shoot it.

It wouldn't surprise me if they start sending some M2.0 through the Performance Center, but nothing I've heard about yet. I'm sure it wouldn't be until the demand has slowed down for the stock m2.0. Right now I would guess just stock inventory for dealers and distributors, would take all they make.

Have not one bad thing to say about mine. It came accurate right out of the box. I have over 1500 rounds or so thru it. I can feed it any 9mm ammo with no problems. At first I thought the price was a little high, but once I shot it....Wow! Get it ..You won't regret it!!
Also look at Sportsmans Outdoor Super Store...I have bought a few gun's from them and you couldn't beat their prices and smooth transaction.
Good luck!

I spoke to saw and I was told there are no future plans to change the performance center m&p as it currently is the best setup. I was curious as I've heard good feedback about 2.0 and would love to see a ported CORE performance center with 2.0 slide. I was told it isn't going to happen.

I'm sure eventually this will change. Just sharing what I was told. I was disappointed. I was going to hold off and get a 2.0 with CORE but looks like fore now there are no plans.

Not sure what they could do to improve on this gun ...Maybe trigger pull? But I have no problem with my trigger..smooth and crisp!

I'm wondering who you spoke with?

Whoever it is, probably knows way more than I do LOL

But here is my thinking:

They have to make a 2.0 performance Center, or they won't have anything. The 2.0 replaces the 1.0. So there won't be any "1.0"'s to send through the Performance Center, so they will have to do a 2.0 or nothing at all.

I was also thinking suddenly the Slides, barrels and palmswells are for sale as a kit, right after the M2.0 comes out? Seems like getting rid of the inventory because without "1.0" there is nothing to use them on.

All speculation on my part but an awful lot of stuff that point to the opposite, of what someone told you. I'd wager you'll see a M2.0 Performance Center within 6 months...If not a Performance Center, some "special Variant" such as a CORE, or Pro Series. I realize the Performance Center has other things to work on (Rifles, Shields, Revolvers, Etc, but seems like a pretty decent market, for S&W to abandon for very long.

Here's another viewpoint. I don't like ported FS 9mm pistols for general use.
With standard ammunition, the ports are mostly for show, not really changing recoil all that much. If you decide to shoot an action pistol game, you will find that having ports pushes you into high- dollar race-gun divisions. And if you shoot with the iron sights instead of buying an optic, you spend half your time wiping the soot off the front sight.

Very happy with my Shield PC 9mm. It's my everyday carry gun. But my favorite to shoot is still my full size M&P 9.

Porting or no porting take it or leave it, shooting with the ported barrel is probably the least important thing to me about my Ported FS9...

But I have to call BS on your statement above. You've either never shot an FS (ported) Or you just like to BS. It takes about 1 minute every 200-300 rounds, and that is if it took you 55 seconds to find a rag.

I ended up getting the .40 performance center ported CORE yesterday and shot 200 rounds and barely had anything on my front sight if any. Alot has to do with what ammo you run through too. But even the stuff I ran 3 boxes of American Eagle and one of winchester cheaper priced ammo I didn't have any issues.

Congrats, Best of luck with it. Enjoy it and have fun.

Yeah, the gun gets dirty faster, and the front sight can get covered...but it's not half your time, and I'm sure it was just a careless exaggeration, but I'd hate to see anyone get scared off because of a falsehood.

Now you can't live without a Red Dot for that ported CORE. j/k Red Dots can be a lot of fun though.

Yes I agree... Ive been using one on my glock 17 mos and and now I have the M&P. Just wished I had about 20,000 rounds of 40 laying around I'd be really happy right now.

Yes I shoot my ported often and yes you have to wipe the front site once in a while. I use my thumb most of the time. And I agree that some ammo is a little dirtier than others. But as it was mentioned... don't let a little soot on the site stop you from buying this awesome pistol !!

I actually ended up getting the 9 PC Ported CORE also. So now I have the.40 and the 9. I have to say... The 9mm hands down the best. Follow up shots and quicker recovery is just awesome. Though the 40 was nice, that 9mm is so much more enjoyable and I find myself shooting faster and holding tighter groups as well.

Just picked up my performance center Shield 40. Love the feel of the trigger. Will be shooting it a lot later in the week.

As a post election celebration and pre Christmas gift for myself, I ordered a full size M&P 9mm ported PC. S&W #10267. Comes with a ported barrel as well as a non-ported threaded barrel. Enhanced trigger and slide is cut for optics ready. My main concern was being able to run a suppressor on it once the current laws change for the better. I found it on slickguns.com for a great price. LGS's couldn't even come close on the price.

It shoots really well. Fits my hand like a glove. My PC 9mm Shield is still my CCW, just due to its size, but If I could only own one or the other, the full size would do just fine as my #1.

Found follow up shots with the 2 liter swinging from the first shot easy to complete in the 5 to 7 yard area. It is an excellent in close self defense completer. 4" or 5" barrels go with a regular firearm but with the little Shield the porting just makes the second shot much quicker to sight/hit on the move. Thank your S&W for giving us this Performance Center firearm.

Maybe you have never shot a ported barrel with an FO front sight?
I shot a borrowed CORE that had a green FO front sight installed, and I had to wipe the front sight after every magazine to see the green. The owner has decided to get a non-ported barrel so he can shoot it in IDPA without optic and ports. If he had bought the Pro 9 to start with, it comes with no ports, green FO installed, AND THE SAME ACTION AS THE CORE.
The owner was told he had to get the CORE because the action was better.

I went with combat night sights immediately getting rid of the fragile sights on the firearm..
