Default M&P 2.0 5 inch 9MM and Apex barrel

I'm planning to get the new M&P 2.0 in 9 MM, however, I have the M&P Pro and have replaced the sear and barrel with Apex products. Since I had to fit the Apex barrel I doubt it will fit the 2.0, but I also have a Storm Lake barrel. Does anyone know if the SL barrel or the Apex sear is compatible to the 2.0? I shoot Action Pistol in the production class with the M&P. My hope is to get less muzzle flip which should allow for faster target acquisition and increased accuracy.

I have a Storm Lake extended 4.25" threaded barrel on my 9mm M&P. It is a drop in unit which fit easily--better than the original S&W barrel, but not a custom fit. Accuracy improved slightly. I noticed a lip curling up on it at the top front of the barrel hood and radiused it down after about 1,000 rounds.

If I put another aftermarket barrel on a pistol of mine I will go the gunsmith route, as any drop-in is going to be only marginally better than factory, no matter what "match" marketing they apply to it.

If I'm going to spend the money to improve accuracy, I want noticeably improved accuracy. An extra $50-75 is worth it to me.

BTW, I would swap drop in parts between slides, but not custom fitted parts. I would expect some reliability and function changes and be ready to deal with them. Takes time.

Personally, I would not buy a 2.0 if you plan on Apex'ing it.
I would save the $ and get a 1.0 and still do the Apex....but that is just me

If you now have the 5" Pro with 5" fitted barrel and APEX sear, IMHO you've gone as far as you need with a S&W M&P to shoot Production DIVISION USPSA.
Your statement "My hope is to get less muzzle flip " makes no sense to me as you cannot use ports or add weight in Production Division. You could switch to a heavier platform pistol at a cost of $1500. Look around at a major match and you'll see the gun I mean.

If you are having trouble with muzzle flip on a 9mm Pro 5", I would suspect over powered ammo, or a need to work on a power grip that keeps the gun under control (see Seeklander videos).

I shoot the 5" 9mm Pro in Production Division.

Yup. For me, the Apex sear is the biggy. Love it, don't have the Apex trigger.

I have the M&P 2.0 and its been a great gun. I installed the APEX striker blocker to remove some grit as well as the APEX sear almost right off the bat. The trigger pull improved significantly for sure.

One thing about me is that I'm OCD with my weapons, maybe not a bad thing, but I figured I would state that before giving you my two cents. After firing about 500 rounds with the new APEX sear, I was doing my normal clean job and noticed that the APEX sear, although seeming to function just fine, does not fit in the C shaped actuator that depresses the sear as well as the stock original M&P 2.0 sear. Its because the lobe on the APEX sear isn't quuuiiitte as long as the original, or the entire sear is just a couple millimeters longer... either way in bothered me so I made some slight modifications to my original M&P 2.0 sear to lighten the trigger pull. The perfect fitment just makes me feel better. As far as the APEX striker blocker, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Like I said, this is just my two cents, not knocking APEX AT ALL for their parts. This probably wouldn't bother most, but if you look really close there is definitely just a very slight difference when it comes to where the C shaped actuator connects with the APEX sear. Hope you find this helpful.

I second the keeping the 1.0. I had one with the full Apex setup and wish I had kept it. And nothing for the 2.0 coming anytime soon.
