Default Performance Center Aftermarket Barrel?

So I'm getting ready to purchase a M&P .40 Performance Center with Ported Barrel in the 4.25" version.

I need a 4.25" Barrel ported like the one that comes with the M&P Performance Center but converted from .40 to 9mm. I don't want the 4.95" which has the ports sticking out passed the slide like the one Stormlake makes. Just want a duplicate of the 4.25" barrel that it comes with but with conversion .40 to 9mm.

I also called KKM and they do not make anything ported.

Smith Wesson stated they do not sell the ported barrels separately.

Can anyone provide any info or link to a barrel like the one I'm looking for please?

Thanks,
Mike

Well.....here's an idea to look into.

I doubt you'll find that bbl, however, most bbls are between $200- $275.

Can you buy a ported CORE complete slide with BBL?

You can buy the Performance Center Ported Barrel with Ported slide sold as a kit $419 that comes with 3 backstraps also but does not have optical mount from what I've gathered.

Though I could then take the 9mm ported barrel and throw it in the .40 Performance slide with the optical mount, I don't believe it will be a perfect fit which is why aftermarket barrels are made to convert from .40 to 9mm.

I don't understand why Stormlake which makes a 4.95" barrel ported wouldn't make one that is 4.25" or conversion barrel with this option to work with the Performance Center cutout slide. You would think there would be a market for such or by any other barrel company out there.

Buy a plain conversion barrel and send it to Magna-Port?

I suspect there is little aftermarket demand for a couple of reasons:
1. The factory ports on a 9mm using minor PF are mostly for show, and have relatively little effect on recoil. Therefore, the Open Division competitors want a real compensator out past the slide.
2. A non-ported 9mm barrel in the factory ported slide works as well as a ported one for most uses and allows participation in action pistol games without having to shoot against full-out race guns. Take a look at the new Carry Optic Division in USPSA. It also keeps your front sight from rapidly being covered in soot.

I had a similar issue. Performance Center Ported CORE that shot like ****. The whole reason I got it was porting and optics ready. So the solution was an APEX gunsmith fit barrel. When I was happy with the accuracy and knew I wanted to keep it. Off it went to Magnaport. About $100 for the work, 40 In shipping of my slide and barrels there and back. Works like I think it should have from the start.

That will work for what you want to do as well. Buy the barrel you want and sent them all off to magnaport with your slide.

Slightly different question but it sounds like you folks could answer it.

I have a performance center Shield 9mm ported-is there a way to find a Non-Ported version of the same barrel to use as a swap out?
