Help me, I'm Australian!
Hey guys and girls, I own an m&p 9L with the apex FSS and trigger kit here in Australia, the rear sight slipped off on the weekend (second hand gun, second time shooting it, didn't realise rear sight was loose.) And the spring under the sight went flying into the dirt/rocks/weeds never to be found again. I didn't loose the little aluminium disk though.
A couple of questions.
Is the APEX striker block safety plunger SPRING the same as a standard S&W spring? I know the USB that comes with the kit is different to the stand alone USB Apex offers also but not sure if the spring is different.
I emailed APEX earlier in the week but haven't heard back from them yet. Maybe too small of an issue for them to worry about or maybe busy due to the start of the year?
Does anyone know the best place to get a replacement spring?
It's really hard in Australia to get spare parts for the m&p let alone an apex one. (if they are different)

The apex striker block spring is lighter that the factory spring.
The springs, like many gun parts could be restricted for foreign shipment. Hopefully not.
p.s. Have you tried calling S&W? They may be able to get you a factory replacement.

it is a different spring, but either will work, your trigger will be a little heavier pull with the OEM spring and lighter with the Apex.
I'm sure Apex will get back to you. Thier Customer Service is vey good, and it would be a sin, to see a Customer in need as "too small of an issue".
Nobody mentioned it But Monday was a holiday here in the US...so along with the other issues already mentioned, that may add an additional delay.

Help me, I'm Australian!
just wondering how the sight came loose? unless you didn't tighten the screw on top there is no way it will come out,,just saying, either way you will be pleased with the apex usb spring IMO it works smoother.

I'm not sure what the new law is regarding parts shipment overseas, but until you can locate a spring, see if you can find a spring of that diameter and shorten it to fit. (Ball point pen, etc.) I'm pretty sure the pistol will work just fine without that spring, too, but I hesitate to mention it.
Just sayin'.

If you have it, put the Apex striker block in as well. I'm sure you could order the spring and/or striker block from many online sources who can deliver parts to Aus.

I am betting that, if you install the S&W spring, the difference will be really minimal. And then, I'd figure the best source for your location, and make up an order of all the little springs, plungers, pins, etc that are in the gun. It really sucks having a gun down for so small a part so I have done that for my Buckmarks, Berettas, and ARs.

Thanks for the welcome and the replies everyone, yea I thought it wouldn't be a huge difference between the two springs.
I bought the pistol second hand and maybe the original owner didn't do it up properly at some point? I realized it was loose half way through an IPSC match at the club and retired my self as the sights were moving around as I was shooting. As I showed the RO the loose rear sight it slid off completely.
I'm new to pistol shooting as well and I thought the rear sight was only held in by friction like the front sight. To my relief I discovered the tension screw shame it cost me the spring to learn that though.
So a few lessons learned on the weekend regarding my M&P!
I've just emailed Smith and Wesson. Still no reply from APEX yet.
We do have an Australian branch of Brownells now so will also try them.
I considered retrofitting a spring from a pen or something but i think I'll just wait for a new one. Not ready to play amateur gunsmith yet.
Thanks again
