Default M&P9mm Pro feeding problem....

Two weeks in a row I have had problems with my 9mm pro at my PPC league. If your not familiar with PPC you load 6 rounds in each mag for a total of 10 mags. For some reason it won't load every time. For instance I got 6 off ejected the mag...load a new mag and it won't load. I also had two squib loads and thats funny because this gun is new and I bought 900 rounds and shot almost all of them thru this gun with out any problems until now. So I thought it could be a mag...so I numbered them to keep track...this time they all worked . Feed ramp looks good too. Also as someone mentioned in another post about the return spring being up off the barrel a little bit....well mine is like that too. So I checked my 9mm PC and it was the same way and I have never had a problem with that gun ever.

IT's frustrating because I bought this gun just for PPC. I guess I'm going to have to go to the range and try some different ammo....But not sure that's the problem because all the rounds I shot of the same stuff. BTW the ammo in question was bulk in a ammo can and I inspected all rounds as I used them and divided them up into separate bags.

any Ideas ?

The gun is not the cause of the squib loads.

"won't load," is very subjective. We'd need allot more details before we could diagnose.
That said, given you already know you have ammo problems. My guess is you may have more and not a bad gun. I'd suggest running a box of 115 gr round nosed factory ammo through the gun ( and different mags). My guess is that it runs fine with this fodder. If it doesn't, you've taken your first trouble shooting step.

90% of feed problems are ammo related...... when shooting bulk ammo there might be the odd out of spec cartridge..... i test all my competition ammo before i start shooting..... it a p.i.t.a but atleast i can shoot competitions knowing that all my ammo fits in the gun..... in USPSA/IPSC every 1/10sec you can save counts.... a FTF realy messes up things

What do you mean "it won't load"? Does the slide stay locked back? Does the round just hit the face of the chamber? Does the round do something other than go into the chamber?

Squib is ammo related!

What ammo are you using? Which company/manufacturer?

The only thing I can think of that came in 900 round lots was the Magtech Shootin' Size

Ammo: Oakland Ammo reloads
Type: standard round nose 115 GR.

The round hits the chamber and slide close's on it. pull back slide, eject and same thing, all six rounds. At that point it seems the impact from the first round not loading... jars the barrel out of place.. I think.
Gonna to the range tomorrow and do some process of elimination.

Just funny how all of a sudden this ammo won't work in the gun anymore.

Also when I had a squib the first time there was a lot of gun powder flakes in the the gun.. like it chopped off the projectile.. never had that happen before.

They are reloads. So obviously something is wrong. Something went wrong during the reloading process. Maybe a step was accidentally skipped.

Try some factory ammo and see what happens

Keep in mind the ammo in question came in a bulk can and I took them out by the hand full and divided them up in bags of 120 rounds per bag. So there was no order like in a carton or box. that's why I find it funny that all of a sudden the ammo is a problem.

SQUIBB loads are NEVER a gun issue.

One reason inexpensive bulk ammo is inexpensive is that less attention is paid to quality control. And, bulk packs which don't keep the rounds from bouncing around can lead to subtle damage to the casings, and to slight displacement of the bullets. Cheap ammo often proves to be less of a bargain than seems likely.

When some rounds won't chamber (but other rounds do) that is typically an ammo issue -- that sort of malfunction is almost always due to the round being physically out of spec. Try different ammo.

While reloads are less expensive, you can buy ammo like Blazer Brass (or Sellier & Bellot and various other ammo) for just a bit more and have almost no problems. If you buy in bulk (500 or 1000 rounds at a time) you can get some additional savings.

It's very unlikely that the barrel is being jarred out of position by a round that doesn't load or chamber properly.

When the slide is moving forward, there's not much "wiggle" possible by the time the round is being chambered -- as the barrel can only go forward (which is where it is supposed to go.) The farther forward it goes, the more likely it is to be properly positioned -- so being jarred can only be GOOD.

Ok So I shot the rest of my ammo up with no issues so I came to the conclusion that it was the ammo...not mags , not barrel, not the gun.

Then I went on to shoot some other ammo..Winchester cheap stuff and no problems. So I think I'm back in business now!!

I would like to thank everyone for all your input !!
