Hey guy's, new to the S&W fourm/ family. I've recently purchased my first S&W.. a full size M&P .45, and I love it but I would like to make some modification's to it.

Originally, I bought this for home protection and conceal and carry but after a few trip's to the shooting range.. I am hooked!!

Honestly, after a "few" clips I"m starting to became pretty accurate..I would really like to add some useful modification's.

I'm looking for a good sight first and foremost...every shop wants 160-190 for some fiberoptic sights... I found a few good decent set's on Amazon for $48-58. Also, I'm really considering a tactical flashlight/ laser, trigger kit..possibly a custom slide, an upgraded rifled barrel and a nice grip.

Any and all info. would be much appreciated it!!

congrats. I have the same gun on my night stand. It is an amazing gun, very accurate. I upgraded the sights for Truglo tritium sights, installed apex duty/carry kit, and got the Trl-1hl.

For the sights, you may want to try just changing the front and leaving the rear for now or even blackening the dot's in the rear, I find the FO rear too busy. Just a thought. You may also want to consider tritium instead of FO for working gun sights. I think it's Tru Glow that make the fiber optic sights with tritium. I can't speak to their quality as I've never used them, seems like a mixed bag of reviews on them.

Lots of different choices for grip modification I stippled the back strap, only the removable part, and used a couple pieces of grip tape for other parts.

Lights, the TLR series is probably the best bang for the buck as far as pistol lights. You may want to think about the remote switch for it so you can activate/deactivate it one handed and still operate the trigger. If you want to blow some dough, the Surefire is top of the line.

Your not going to find much for aftermarket slides. As far as barrels, maybe wait until you start outshooting the gun or coming close, are you having accuracy issues now?

The truglow tritium/fiber optic combination covers all spectrums. I've found there are certain times of the day, dawn and dusk, that fiber optics only are useless. You can visually see surroundings but there's not enough ambient light to make the fiber optics visible. With the truglo tritium/fiber optic combination, this isn't an issue as the tritium will illuminate the fiber optic. During daylight hours, the fiber optics take over and are definitely more visible than a tritium only sight. The downside for the truglo tritium/fiber is reduced sight radius because the front sight is longer due to the fiber. Rigidity of the front sight was also a concern of mine, but have had no issues to date.

I've got a couple of 4" M&P .45s, both have the OME front, blacked out & a 10-8 Performance wide "U" rear sight, good for older eyes and low light. Both can take a Surefire X300u light with a DG switch as needed
