Default Alien believer!

Well, my Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 came today. I love the design and the fit of it. It is very comfortable and wears nicely. Looks like I've found the holster for my everyday carry! I realize that IWB is not for everyone but, if you are considering giving it a try, I would highly suggest the Cloak Tuck 3.0.

I will be ordering another one now for my Springfield XDs!

I haven't tried their IWB variant, but I have nothing but good to say about the OWB Alien Gear holster I bought for my Glock 19.

Been happy with mine and the service. One of mine came with a screw holding the shell cross-threaded. Had a new base, no questions asked, in a few days.

Hubby took advantage of the free shell swap after he traded a gun. Fast and easy service.

I like my 3.0 as well but have one improvement that is really needed. In the pic above you can see padding between the top of the gun(back end of slide) and your body. I wish that padding was extended to pad between your body and the grip. After wearing it all day even with a shirt in between my skin gets rubbed raw from the grip. I do have the talon grip on my Shield but having padding there would cure that issue.

I think the holster manufactures don't put material there, so it's easier to get a good purchase on the grip for a faster draw. I can't remember ever seeing a holster with backing for the grip. I always wear a t-shirt (even outside in Florida summer) which helps tremendously.

I wear a t-shirt between as well. I understand the need for a faster draw. However, if I can't wear it for long periods and have to take it off a faster draw will do nothing for me.

I like my Alien Gear holsters, and can't say enough good things about their customer service.

I contacted them about a one off holster, and they could not accommodate the request (I didn't think they would but couldn't hurt to ask) The rep suggested I might be able to modify the one I had with a Dremel. I replied that I was going to heat up the Kydex and reform it, as I thought it would be better than trimming. The rep said that sounded interesting and asked for a pic when I was done...then to my amazement, she volunteered, that all parts would still be covered under their warranty, even after I modified.

Yes, I understand your issue, I'm just saying I think you'll have trouble finding any holster made the way you'd like.

The other Alien Gear Cloak Tuck option has a leather backer. It's almost as comfortable as the 3.0. You could get your own leather and cut a backer the way you'd like. I think their leather one is around $35 so you wouldn't even have to dismantle your 3.0 and have an idea of where to start. I think you will find between getting in the way of a good draw and the added coverage of your body you might not like it, but worth a try for a few bucks.

If you are new to concealed carry FWIW, I kept reminding myself of an expression I heard "Concealed carry is comforting, it's not comfortable" It doesn't make it any less uncomfortable but it helped me to just get used to it, if I wanted to Concealed carry. I only started concealed carrying less than a year ago, so I remember

Not sure why that posted twice. With CC growing we have watched a shift to smaller guns which is a much different mindset from the past Maybe holster makers will realize this as well and make a shift to the growing group off CC's. People who CC are not LEO's and have a much different mindset and a different set of needs.

So far I have no issues with rubbing and the holster stays put while moving around. First time in a long time, I've been this excited over a holster!

I wanted one of their owb that mates with the cloak dock, but they don't make one for a 9c with Viridian CTL.

Molding the Kydex shell is pretty easy. You could probably heat it up and remold it to allow for the Viridian.

Default Alien believer!

Looking at the pic above it looks like they improved their Kydex shell. It appears more detailed and completely covers the trigger guard and the retaining screw sit down into the kydex.

You can buy just the shell to mount on the carrier. I have one shell for the MP and another for the 1911. Same carrier, and the 1911 carries comfortably all day.

They use finish washers, the Kydex has a normal hole for the screw, and the finish washer gives it the look you see. The clips are countersunk and the screws sit down into them.
