I was lucky enough to purchase a 2.0 5" FDE in .40.
I got the camera out and took a few side by side pictures with my trusty 40c.

I also added pictures of a 9c barrel that I swap out at the range. I'm thinking of getting the Storm Lake M&P pro 40 to 9mm conversion barrel. It should fit and work just fine.

In regards to the new textured grip, which I really like, It did not go so well with a in the waistband holster, ouch!(Thinking of you guys who are getting the regular 2.0's) I would not be able to carry concealed my 40c if the grip was textured like this. Deffinately a OTW carry or need of some padding to protect your skin!

Trigger is improved over the original M&P. I do like the tactile reset. I have not looked as to how it all works, but I like it. I'll probably be leaving the trigger alone. I Do have Apex parts in my 40c. Quite happy with it.

2.0 fits fine in most of my M&P holsters. Also accepted other full size 40 magazines that I have.

Can't wait for range trip...

I would like to say thank you for your efforts. Very good job with the photos and the explanations. Many have learned from your post. Excellent.

Though I like the new gun in some respects I really miss the beaver tail on the new pistol that is what set it apart from the other striker fired pistols out there. Did it severe a really purpose maybe not but to me it added something to the gun. Just an opinion.. we will have to see what the performance shop comes up with as a pro model not a big fan with the safety on the 5 inch model not against safeties for 1911 but striker fired pistols are different guns. Not that a miss fire couldn't happen but with the short crisp trigger on the 1911 seems more plausible.. Again just my opinion..

Thanks for posting this thread. I was wondering specifically about the rougher texture grip and any IWB carry or even just having shirt tails over this material. Seemed like they went from "too smooth" to "too rough". Anyone else doing any IWB carry with 2.0's that can chip in here?

I had a chance to handle the M&P 2.0 and I agree. The grip texture is way to aggressive. We can hope Talon grips will soon be available.

I also noticed trying to use the slide stop to release the slide for lefties won't work. I'm a lefty and using my thumb to pull down the slide stop resulted in no action.
Myself and the guy who owned it field stripped it and the notch for the slide stop is only on one side(left) so when pulling down on the slide stop on the right side takes more strength but all is does is cause the slide stop to flex never releasing the slide.
Think I'll keep the Gen 1. lol

I finally made it to the range on saturday. This 2.0 FDE was just taken out of the box and shot, No cleaning, oiling, parts swap or anything.

I put 200 round thought my 2.0 FDE .40. I shot 100 rounds of 165gr(Walmart Winchester)and 100 round of 180gr.(Walmart Federal) No issues with amo. I reallly couldn't feel much of a diffrence between the two(I do prefer 180gr. with my M&P 40c).

I started at 5 yards and went out to 15 yards only. Grouping and follow up shots were good. I did a few rapid fire shots at 5 and 10 yards.

The more I shot, the more I wanted to remove the 1911 style safety. I just din't like it being there.

I also started to notice my shots were a little low and to the right. I really noticed it at 15yds. No biggie, I got a laser I can slap on and adjust as needed. I did shoot my M&P 40c and I was hitting at point of aim.

The trigger is good but it can be better. As I was shooting, I started to feel that S&W grittiness. I had a closser look on Sunday. I only pollished and smothhed it out quite a bit. I think I brought the trigger pull down another 1/2 lb. I'm deffinately adding the $40 plastic Apex trigger.

I've been carrying a Shield 45 which has the new grip and it definitely tears your skin up when IWB. I'm going to switch back to my 9mm or maybe sand the body side of the grip.

I really have to wonder how S&W got that grip so wrong. I wonder if one could sand just the body side?

I'd suggest the rubberized Talon grips and preserve the
Shields original look.

Just my opinion. The grip is perfect to me.
I may never carry this gun but for range and house work its great.

Some assembly required..

I took a softer nail file and smoothed down the 2 places where it was rubbing. Worked perfect, no rubbed spots and feels great in my hand.

I am looking for another mag for my 2.0 9mm in FDE. Any suggestions for a good place order?

Are the one from the M&P9 compatible?

Yes they are compatible. I Can buy used ones locally for $20 to $30. Brand new ones are $35 on up.

So the $25.99 I listed is a great buy since people are buying them up.
