M&P .40 mags rattle when loaded.
All of my M&P mags rattle when they have 15 rounds in them. Both brand new ones, and old ones. I believe it to be the follower, but I could be wrong, but if so, what is it, and why does it happen? They should fix that. It makes it seem like an inferior product.

My 9mm mags do the same thing. But only when filled to capacity. Never had a single issue with them at the range.

None of my 9mm mags do this. Only the .40 ones and only when full to capacity.

I have only had this issue with the M&P .40 mags. Nothing ever with other brand mags and never, even with Smith & Wesson mags have I ever had issues. Only factory .40 M&P mags. It's strange.

My Sigma mags rattle with a full load, but not my M&P. Solution: I take one out of the Sigma mags and voila - silence.

Why should they fix it? It isn't broken.

The only thing that matters is if they function correctly. Well, do they?
If they're feeding properly, nothing else matters. Unless you're doing covert operations. Then the rattle might give your position away.

If they rattle in my duty pouch when they shouldn't, someone may hear me when I do not want them to.
Other manufacturers do not have this issue. Why is Smith & Wesson becoming sub-par?

All my husband's Walther mags rattled so loud, it was obvious to me even when we walked down our busy Main St.. Didn't help when you took a round out either.

Yes they do. Read my post. And yes I carried them on a duty belt. It happens, The rest of your gear will make far more noise then a couple of mags

I was saying that all of my mags from other manufacturers have done the same thing. It is really annoying when off duty, I have to hear it. It is really bad.

I have 3 9mm mags that do the same have about 700 rounds between the 3 of them and never had any issues with the mag, I don't think its anything to be super concerned of.

Which is it? They all do or only S&W does it?
S&W is not sub par. All their mags work well in their guns.

Well, back when I was an LE silent Ninja....
Well not really, in the course of life, keys, change, squeaking boots, flashlight et. al. making noise, is a magazine with a loose round really an issue ?
YMMV

Only the S&W rattles, and only the .40 magazines do. The 9mm ones do not. They are the only ones I have had do that so far. Time will tell, as I start to get other guns besides M&P's and Glocks. (I am very partial to those two)
