Default OK to need to drift rear sight .1" to center groups?

Hi,

Got a new barrel for my 40 compact, a KKM 40-9 conversion barrel.

I shot groups with it at 25 yards to test function. While groups were pretty good ( < 5" 10 shot groups) they were consistently centered about 5" to the right of the bullseye.

I drifted the rear sight to the left about .07" with my sight pusher. My concern is that it makes the rear sight look pretty off center although it's still within the dovetail and doesn't protrude off the side of the slide or anything. I can just start to see the very slight edge of the striker block hole visible on the right side of the rear sight but it's definitely in no danger of popping out.

Is this an acceptable situation? Could the slide to barrel fit with the new barrel just be that much different than the factory barrel? Function was fine in the first 50 rounds.

I have no experience w/ aftermarket barrels but that sure seems like a lot of adjustment. Thinking how that could happen. Seems that the block section of the barrel is off center, or is the barrel bore off center all the way through? I would sure talk to KKM.

There are a lot of variables here, and frankly, that doesn't look that bad.

What's the alternative - having a gun not sighted in properly ?

Leave it there if it works for you. Some other variables are ammo, shooting with one eye or both eyes open and how much finger is on the trigger

+1 to speaking with KKM. I wouldn't like that situation if I were in your shoes, something isn't fitting properly. I wouldn't accept it.

The whole idea IMHO, is to be able to swap back and forth, and they should sit in the slide properly so the sighs are pretty close for both.

Everything assumes you have bench rested while shooting, and positively confirmed that it is not human error.

That looks pretty minimal to me. If it bothers you, drift it back to the right half the amount you moved it in the first place, and drift the front sight to compensate.

I don't think it was human error seeing as how the groups are centered when shooting it with 40, and typically if it was error on my part the shots would go low left, whereas these were dead on in regard to elevation, just 4-5" right.

I think I will just shoot it as is for awhile and see how it works out. It's not like the gun is a showpiece, it's an EDC and has been abused pretty hard over the past 10 years or so.

Just using the conversion as a stop gap until they make a 2.0 9mm compact.

If it were my gun I'd shoot it at 3yds,5yds,7yds,10yds and 15yds to see where the gun's point of aim and point of impact collide with your preferred ammo.

IMO that type of gun is not designed as a 25yd shooter.
