Default Deltapoint Pro on non core M&P

Looking to install a red dot on my NON CORE M&P 40. Thinking at the Deltapont Pro on a dovetail mount with the optional rear sight. My question does anyone have an idea what height front sight will need to co-witness. Thinking .300 or so should work Thanks in advance.

Dawson precision has a large selection on their website, they list which front sight with which rear site. Once you have the height of the Deltapoint pro, you can match it with the closest rear sight, they offer, and have your answer, for the matching front.

Dawson would be your best bet, but your going to need more then .300". I've got a G with an RMR melted into the slide with a .315" front and it's just about lower third, maybe lower. The DP pro is taller plus the mount on top of the slide. It can probably be done but holsters may be an issue. Maybe try the dovetail mount to see how you like it then have your slide milled for it.

I don't want to sound like I'm trying to be an expert, I'm just sharing my own research and experience. If you haven't considered it, and some info for others...The higher the red dot is the more difficult it will be to "find the dot". Milling gets it lower and therefore closer to the bore axis, and will come into view more like iron sights.

My point is, it can work just fine, but be prepared for the extra time in training, and don't get discouraged. My full size, took a little getting used to, and is factory milled, but uses suppressor sights. My shield co-witnesses with standard height sights (they can mill pretty deep and it's a low red dot), and took almost no time to adjust.

All that said, the dovetail is a nice way to try it, without spending the $$$ to have it milled, as long as you're keeping the above in mind, and don't get discouraged.

Thanks everyone for the info you have got me looking into having the slide milled as the best option.
