Question Shield Striker Assembly Moves Forward?

My Shield 9 has a little over 1200 rounds on it. Today I decided to remove the rear slide plate and clean out the striker assembly. After removing the rear slide plate, it seemed like the striker assembly came out without pressing the striker block down.

Upon reassembly, I had to press the striker block down to get the striker assembly in, but I've noticed that I can move the striker forward and the firing pin will show through the hole without depressing the striker block. It's like the striker block won't come all the way back up when the striker assembly is inserted.

I am thinking this is not normal. My full size won't move forward.

What's wrong? What needs to be replaced? It's probably not safe to carry it in this manner right?

Thanks!

I think I found my answer here.

If I push back on the striker just a little, the striker block pops up and I can no longer move the striker forward. Whew... was starting to panic a little there.
